feel free to discuss whether or not brawl should be considered a fighting game. *Trollface*

Nah, I hate that kind of humor...
That isn't my issue with Brawl being on the poll. My issue is that Brawl was the one of the most horrid games I've ever played, and typing that reminded me that is was the second game that I ever stopped in the middle of, said "this is stupid", and quit playing it for good (first was Halo). Original was good and Melee was awesome, but Brawl sucked.

OT: Dissidia. I don't care much for fighting games, but I enjoyed the first and so far the second is decent, haven't played much...
So...it was stupid because of the characters change in fight mechanics, storyline? Explain please.
No, it was stupid because you play through the first 60% unlocking most the characters, then you lose them all have have to play through the game again is a shorter version unlocking everyone again. I spent 6 hours suffering through a "meh" story mode, why would I want to go back through it again in a shorter version? Plus, might have just been for me, but all the characters and moves sucked in Brawl.

Super Smash Bros. series is still my favorite, but it's been almost a year since I played it -- I don't really like fighting games.

Most enjoyable is SSBB. I don't play it much because the balance is dodgy but when I'm in that kind of mood I love it.

I'm completely in love with Super Street Fighter 4. It's the only fighting game I have ever had more than a passing interest in, and it's the only game ever that I've played competitively. It was a small, small scene, no more than 15 people per tournament, but it was great fun every time. Probably clocked over 600 hours by now, I'd wager. I still play it, no sooner than an hour ago, and I can't wait for AE.

MvC2 is incredibly fun with the right partner.
The Budokai Tenkaichi games were hilariously unbalanced fun as well.

Ever played? Soul Calibur III.

Past few years? Soul Calibur III. I still play it regularly. If it has to be a game released in the past few years though, then I guess SSBB, because it's one that me and all my friends can have fun playing.

I notice a massive lack of BlazBlue on your list, OP.
I felt that I needed to point this out, considering that everyone else seems to have missed it.
Scroll up and see the 3 posts that beat you to it. :p

No guilty gear either. Although I haven't played that yet.
Fix this. Immediately.
OP: Guilty Gear X2, without a doubt. It is the game that made me love fighters. Continuum Shift is second and I'm watching AH3 very closely.

Other: Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast, couldn't believe how good it looked and how smoothly it played.

There is a severe lack of Blazblue and Guilty gear on that list. I am disappointed in you.

That's not a very inclusive poll at all, is it? If the implication is that anything that isn't on the list isn't enjoyable, I might just have to take exception to that misconception.

In the past 3 years, huh?
Maybe Marvel Versus Capcom 3 in no small part due to it putting in so many of my favorite Capcom game characters (really, I was sold at Amaterasu, Felicia, Dante and Zero but RE5 Wesker truly sealed the deal) against some of my favorite Marvel Characters (again, they didn't have to go far beyond Deadpool, Thor and and Doctor Doom but having She-Hulk in a fighting game in an official capacity almost makes up for Rainbow Mika being left out of the Street Fighter series for so long), all in an accessible yet deep fighting system.

Then again, Soul Calibur 4's character creation mode let me pit Guts from Berserk up against Cattleya from Queen's Blade and Ichigo from Bleach against 'StarKiller', so that goes a long way towards making it one of the most fun fighting games that I've played in the last three years.

Anyway,if I were to answer the question that this thread's title put forward, the fighting game that I've had the most fun with is Darkstalkers: Vampire Savior (with Street Fighter Alpha 3 coming in a close second and Sega Fighter's Mega Mix coming in third). It's a Monster Mash and, as such, it's a graveyard smash. I don't need to say more than that.

No BlazBlue in that poll? What the heck...?[/quote

What the hell is blazeblue?
Please tell me you're joking.
Nope... it sounds anime related if thats the case then dont be suprised cause im not into much anime.
It is anime related, and one of the best fighting games out there. Better than most of the games you listed. The only fighting game I can think of that doesn't have copy paste movesets and characters that fight and have to be used differently.
copy paste move set is your concern?

What fighting games have you been playing.

SSBB doesn't have copy paste moveset. (the moves look similar but their reliability differs.
Tekken 6 definately doesn't.
street fighter 4 ...eh yeah the very basic punches and kicks i guess.
Motral kombat 2011 (see above)
MvC3 doesn't. (see above, above.)
soul calibur 4 yeah.
the majority fighting games that I HAVE PLAYED doesn't have copy paste move sets.

Tekken series. In college, I was that guy who played the game obsessively and I got very good at it. Not Korean level of good, but I did win a tournament at my college.

I have done every chain combo with King imaginable with Tekken 3 and I can do them in later games as well.

Soulcalibur 3. But seeing as it isn't on the list I'll vote for it's inferior sequel.
Too bad that SC 2 was better than 3...
I've heard, but I haven't been able to find any copies of SC 2, so I can't pass judgement. Nonetheless, SC 3 is very enjoyable.
My biggest issue with the series after 2 is that they gutted everyone's move list (so, I'm guessing, that the new characters introduced in 3 wouldn't feel so out of place or take too much work). Everything Mina lost in the transition still makes me sad to this day.
Holy hell, and here I was thinking that I was the only one to notice that.

Addendum: How do you think I feel? I've played Siegfried/Nightmare Siegfried since the first game. His lack of mobility in SC3 felt so alien when I first came across it (it still does to an extent).
