I believe you forgot an "Other" option.

My favourite is the original Super Smash Bros. Not Melee and sure as hell not that other slippery mess of a game you people call Brawl.

Probably Tekken 6. That's because I grew up with Tekken.

I literally played 6 until my Xbox broke.

It is quite apparent that you made a mistake leaving out BlazBlue. Sorry friend, maybe u wanna run this poll again a month from now...results must be skewed!

I'll put my vote in for Street Fighter IV, but thats only because it's the one I've spent the most time with. Haven't even tried yet the new Mortal Kombat, but if it's anything like a throwback to the older ones (I - IV) then I'm sure I'll have a ball with it.

Soul Calibur 2 I guess, but I not a big fighting game fan. I might get the new MK when it's about 20$, though.

brawl out of those, but the title of the thread was misleading as i was going to reply with bloody roar II the new breed ... i know it was crappy for today's standards, but it was fantastic. a swiss-cheese plot, transformation and a mole-ninja/ninja-mole ... a win in my book! oh and a bat with boobs ... you remember if you played it

Kilik is used a lot, and he's my best. His poke spam is dangerous to use, because a solid parry is easy if you block the first hit. Sieg needs to get in and stay in, because Kilik's moveset at kissing range is bad. Kilik wins with range, which is why characters like Amy, ivy, and Cervantes make his life miserable.
I've played people who use those characters quite well, so believe me, I know. D:

Speaking of, I wonder if he'll be back for SCV. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the "new" 40-year-old Siegfried. The producer said the game is supposed to play closer to SCII, so maybe he'll get his mobility back? :D

This is probably an unpopular choice and I imagine I'll get chased from the internet by users, pitch fork and torches in hand for saying this but I'm going to go with UFC: Undisputed 2010 for the 360. I would have went with Fight Night Round 3 because that game was a blast to have around, specially with friends but sadly I think FNR3 came out way over three years ago.

So I'm going to go with UFC: Undisputed 2010, I thought it was a great improvement over the original to the point that it made the 2009 game almost unplayable. The game had a great degree of customization, maybe not in the appearance side (well the clothing was varied but it was limited in the whole fighter creator department) but in the move set, you could pretty much create your own fighting style here which was awesome. I liked how it was announce your first and second name along with your nickname, it was a nice touch, sadly it didn't have my last name but it did have a few friends names and it sounded awesome.

I thought the combat was awesome, the story mode was good though not faultless, it had a good roster and a pretty good game if your part of the fanbase.

I had more fun with it than I did with most fighting games I played in the last three years. Which is probably going to get me burned at the stake for saying but thats my opinion on the matter I hope you guys and gals respect it.

None of the above. Bushido Blade 1, but only playing against other players. The core campaign's Honor System was a pain in the behind.

Mortal Kombat 2011, though at the moment i've hit a bit of a brick wall. I've done all everything A mere mortal like myself can do. I only really have the super hilariously difficult Trophies left to get!

And yeah MVC3 is hell-a cheap. Then again i think MVC2 was still cheap but not as cheap.

Why didn't you just put a bunch of fighting game franchises in the poll? All the same Mortal Kombat or Tekken. MK for its fatalities and uniqueness. Tekken cause foot to forehead + demon guy = win. I thought MVC:3 was alright whilst playing it in a store but I feel it would get boring after a while.
cause my poll was specific. Best fighting games in the past 3 YEARS.
Whoops, I didn't see that in the OP. Sorry my bad. Also SSBB was released in the last three years? I thought it was at least five years old. Guess I was wrong.
SSBB was released march 2008. That game was a pain in the ass to get and still cost $50-60 dollars to this day.

This is one tough poll. As a fan of fighting game I have very fond memories of all of these games, but I'll have to go with Super Smash Brothers since it was my introduction to all of those fun times.

TAGER SMASH

Blazblue. Rather well balanced compared to most of the genre. And doesn't use 3D models, making gorgeous animatied 2D sprites instead.

Also...the OST is ear porn.

Soul Calibur 2 on the Gamecube, probably because I played it all the time with my cousins and my friends. I don't think I'd ever play another fighting game and I'd certainly never play online against random opponents. Being stun-locked and insulted or having my opponent rage-quit because they didn't stun-lock and insult me would cheapen the experience somewhat.

Did you ever play the Guilty Gear series? BlazBlue is the spiritual successor franchise to it. And the OST predictably kicks ass:
