i do drugs
university is hard on me as i am not as sart as i thought i was. So to get top grads i have to work a lot and consume a lot caffeine and sometimes something to fight of my headaches. And when i do have some time to party i usually drink a lot or smoke some pot because somehow i can enjoy myslef more when i am high. I wouldn't say that people who don't take drugs are uncool or anything, i deeply respect those who can live without any drugs(on the other hand, who doesn't drink tea/coffe every once in a while?)

my friends tell me its a social interaction thing.

personally I think that if you're not a worthwhile person to be around without drugs/alcohol, you're not a worthwhile person to be around.

if you're a fun person and doing drugs makes you more fun, then hey why not?

if you're not a very fun person and doing drugs makes you fun, then you're not really going to know what happened, AND you'd still be a dull fish after the drugs. you'd be worth nothing more than a joke and the only way you feel worthwhile is if you do more drugs.

I don't do drugs. I'm not going to force a person I'm not to become me to make a false impression of who I am. I have friends who do drugs and sometimes (while on drugs) they are hilarious and other times they and horrible wrecks who need held down to keep them from hurting themselves (not being violent to themselves, but just crashing into furniture because they think they can run).

at our kickback we always have 2 groups. drinkers/smokers and the clean people. the clean people can do a few shots, drink a few beers, but not enough to get drunk. We take care of the influenced group.

I drink, but not smoke.

Yes. Marijuana, alcohol, magic mushrooms, LSD, salvia divinorum, MDMA (or 'clones' whenever the mighty original can not be found) and 2C-B are drugs I use regularly from time to time. Also tried some GHB, but that was a disaster.

Why? Because it's either relaxing (marijuana and alcohol), a great sensation (MDMA) or just wonderfully strange and an amazing trip (LSD, shrooms, salvia divinorum and to a lesser extent 2C-B).

People who do drugs are usually compensating for some disfunction in themselves. I used in the past but I like myself better without them and I make better relationships now. I was sad and afraid before but I eventually started living my life as I should. I'm not part of a "program" or anything but I really believe in not using drugs and facing life in a straight forward way.

edit: I'm actually even working on cutting caffeine out of my diet.

Perhaps they do have experience to back up their conviction, but simply didn't elaborate. On the other hand, I have seen the effects of drugs on friends and family members, and how they do have the potential to ruin lives. I have had a friend OD and die. I have had personal possessions stolen and pawned by a family member addicted to heroin. This same person started prostitution as a way to feed their habit or heroin and copious amounts of pot. The pot apparently masks the heroin in the urine (or so I was told), as she was also on the Methodone program.

I have had a different cousin have children forcibly removed from her by The Department of Community Services because of her heroin addiction, and that she was unable to care for her children. These children have been fostered out, some to family members and one to an outside family.

Now, I have used drugs in the past, but never progressed past smoking pot. I'm not going to say 'don't do this' or 'don't do that', but if you do, be prepared for the possibilities. These people I know / knew never thought they would die, or that their life would follow such a downward spiral, or that taking drugs would effect them so much. No one does.

In terms of illicit substances such as Marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and various other crap they're peddling on the streets I don't buy into it. The thought of a substance that could take control of my body away from me and probably cause me to do something stupid scares me.

I've been hearing a lot about drugs and how they're amazing but I really don't get it. What do people find so fascinating about them?

No I've never tried drugs, I don't find them appealing...Or something worth trying.
I've smoked pot on occasion, and I've done shrooms in the past. The pot isn't that interesting to me, but the magic mushrooms were an amazing experience. The fascination for me probably stems from fundamentally changing perception. And, by doing so, in essence, it changes yourself. But luckily briefly and impermanently. It made me understand the for me so mythical term 'religious experience' a lot better. What other way is there to step outside of your consciousness so completely? Besides, Aldous Huxley was tripping balls before LSD was even invented (and yes if he jumped off a cliff I probably would too).

Hope it was informative :)

I don't do any drugs. I'm clean. Besides, drugs might mess up my Army/Navy application. And they're for assholes.

I don't ever plan on drinking or smoking tobacco or doing any type of drugs. No for moral reasons, but just because of health side effects or the impairment of judgement, sometimes both. I usually don't care if a person does drugs or is drunk, it's their life and they can waste it how they please.

Except if they're behind the wheel of a car, or talking to me, or near me, or raiding with me in WoW. If you've ever had a drunk or high healer or tank trying to work out a raid boss, then you know what I'm talking about.

Why are drugs bad? Why are drugs disgusting? Why drugs aren't okay? And you do realize that drugs is a very broad term that includes socially accepted and legal substances like caffeine and alcohol, and various medical drugs without which much of our modern medicine would be shit. Painkillers, for example. If you think it would be a good idea to perform a serious operation on someone without putting them to sleep first (with a drug, I might add), you're completely wrong. It's not only unethical to subject someone to such pain of people cutting into their bodies and digging around there without anything to remove or weaken pain, it's very possible to kill or significantly damage someone through pain alone.

You, sir, are brainwashed.

You did realize I only meant drugs that are detrimental to ones health and you can get addicted to. And that the people who feel like shit if they don't have drugs but their life can go on a downward spiral if they keep doing drugs. Also people can have their life changed and/or ruined by drugs and I will never touch drugs for that reason.

I've smoked pot too much. Jail time is a big downside. As is personality changes it brings. But if it wasn't fun, I wouldn't have issues from it's use. Alas, no more

Practically all the drugs used in medicine are detrimental to one's health in some way and addictive. Of course, people who end up having operations THAT often to get seriously addicted wouldn't live that long anyways.

You do realize that many of the modern drugs were originally developed for medical use? Morphine. Heroin. LSD.

And plenty of life choices can be very detrimental to one's health and be considered an addiction, at least in the eyes of public. Gaming is one, I might add. Certain diets and lack of activity is another example. And so on.

Outside of physical dependence, there are plenty of things people might feel like shit if they don't have, things that can cause their lives to go "on a downward spiral". There are the infamous WoW/generic MMO addicts. Hikikomori in Japan. And a lot of other things.

Plenty of things can change or ruin your life, and it's not necessarily a reason not to do them.

And you have already touched drugs. Caffeine is a drug, and I can't imagine any person in the modern first and second-world countries who haven't made contact with caffeine at least once in their lives. It's not just coffee, it's pepsi/coke, and a lot of similar drinks.

And caffeine is a physically addictive drug, and has PLENTY of detrimental effects.

A hate needles. And the idea of putting something that will affect my thinking negatively in my body is a no. I don't care if it's only once, I always want myself in good mental conditions. Plus, they're illegal in the U.S.

I smoke synthetic cannabinoids, herbal blends that get you high similar to weed to relieve stress. Works wonderfully after a hard day at work. 90 minutes later I'm still relaxed but am functional. Hurrah!

Drugs aren't for everyone, but when they're for you, boy does it feel wonderful.

Ok so to the people who do it. Whats so fascinating about them?
Try it out?

You cant really dismiss anything out of hand before trying it!
You can too. I've never shot myself but I can generally dismiss that as a bad idea.
OT: Never done drugs, not even pot. Never been drunk. I've only drank alcohol a couple of times with my parents and I hated it, and my dad pisses me off when he's drunk so I don't think i'm going to get into that.
Oh you and the people saying "Well I've never shot myself and I know that's bad." really need to get a better metaphor.

Look at smoking weed. You'll find a lot of people who live completely fine lives. Sure some are dead end pot heads. Even then, those guys are probably happy with their lives.

But bullets in any part of your body are bad and will never do you any good.

I've done pot a couple of times, but I don't drink. I only do pot with friends because it's more fun that way. The appeal of pot is that it just makes you happy and completely ADD so everything interests you. Well... at least for me.

After hearing a few stories from my friends who do drugs and drink, I've come a conclusion.

None of them remembered what happened.

So yeah, I haven't tried them, mostly because I don't wanna get raped and not know it.
