Poll: Whats with all the drugs?

I'd do drugs if it weren't for the terrible amount of damage I'd do to my mind and body. If it didn't hurt me, I'd probably do psychedelic stuff, like lsd. I wouldn't to do it to get high, I'd do it for the creative boost. I don't plan on screwing myself over though.

Legalize all recreational drugs and tax the heck out of them. I don't use them and I still wouldn't if they were legal. Our US puritanical culture has caused gangs and organized crime to flourish. We could get rid of all the Al Capones in the world by making drugs legal and seriously punish anyone who sells to kids.

partly sarcastic. i'm not really sure what my views on marijuana are, i do know its a hell of a lot better than alcohol,(not that its good, but just that alcohol's bad)

If you mean illegal drugs, then no.

But seriously, drugs are about selfishness, because the make you feel good.
I do not do drugs because I like to think I'm better than that.

Okay, point taken. Not everything people do to feel good is selfish, but how are drugs making anyone but yourself feeling good? I mean, seems pretty self-motivated to me. I don't know too many people who get high to make their friend feel good.

The only time I've ever done drugs was when I was in the ICU after having some complications in surgery. I was there on a demerol drip for five days. That stuff can get rid of pain astoundingly well. At first it was all fun and games and it calmed me down. Then I started hallucinating all kinds of people. Wasn't anything out of the norm either it was like everyday kinds of conversations with people that weren't there. The only reason I could tell they weren't there was because I could still see them with my eyes closed.

Weed is cheap, common, non-addictive. Something fun to do when bored.

Alcohol is a social thing (for me at least). Whether I'm playing drinking games with the guys or getting a little smashed with friends. It's fun times, as they say, "when used responsibly."

Some things are very interesting. Indescribable alterations of reality that are simply inexplicable, but somehow understood and shared by all present. Some things do feel truly profound. Mystical, even.

Other things, completely evil. Anyone with a lick of sense stays far away from the very nasty, life-sucking addictive crap.

But it's either you have an urge to try a few things, or you don't.

Really, that's it, as far as I can tell. The only thing that really made me do some of the things I did was curiosity, really. Just trying something new...and in some cases, coming away from them positively.*

*And not-so-much, some of the times as well.

If you're gonna try shrooms, make sure you're in the proper mindset and good company.
I've seen it go one way where a cat walking around the corner is the most funny thing in the world.
Conversely, the second time I tried shrooms ended with my parents picking me up from the hospital, because my dipshit "friend" that I tried it with called 911 because I was freaking out. It was a thoroughly shitty experience where I pulled some dreamlike embarrassing antics at the hospital such as seeing a young guy on a gurney and fully believing that I was his soul, and he was me, and I had to get back into his body...

So I guess that's my answer: yes, I have done drugs, but nowadays, the only drugs I touch are alcohol once in a while, and caffine. Never done anything worse than mushrooms or marijuana, and really have no plans to do either of them, or anything else again.

I'm always mistaken for it because of my long hair, but I actually don't even smoke. I do, however drink quite a bit.
