I don't do it, but I see why people do. To my eye, it seems almost like alcohol to a higher extent, people use it to rid themselves of their inhibitions. I could be wrong though, and IMO, there's better ways to do it.

illegal stuff is exiting to many people, so some people do drugs just because the law says they can't.

I don't do drugs, because:
A. I'm fourteen
B. I live about 5 kilometres away from Amsterdam, and with the feeling that I can go out and get high whenever I want to kind of makes me not want to do it.

Everyone feels drugs differently, so it would be wrong of any drug user to recommend a drug or talk about its effect.

Personally, though, I enjoy alcohol, weed, and shrooms (shrooms never more than 4 times a year).
I dislike Salvia and hash.

Why do I do it? Because its fun, available, and an easy way to entertain yourself (not unlike playing video games).

My question would be the opposite: Why not? What keeps people from trying/doing drugs?
I have heard a couple of arguments, some legitimate but most not.

Alcohol is so much stronger than hash or weed.

I smoked a bit of weed in my teen years but never really enjoyed the high. I'm sober now and have been for over half a year.

Some are very good, some are very bad. But It really depends on your personality and mood when you take them. Drugs are not for everybody.

For me... They are though.

And a bit of advice to everyone: Don't take other peoples opimions on things that don't concern you too seriously.

In a moderate amount, they affect your senses in a way many find pleasing. It's an easier way to get the feeling of an endorfine rush, or just relaxation.
Due to lack of control, we get a lot of bad side effects though. I would find it interesting in a scientific way to experience a hallucinogenic "high", to see the power it would have over my body. It's kind of like how Odysseus made his men tie him the ships mast while sailing past the sirens, so he could hear their enchanting singing without being doomed.

Once upon a time I tried pot. I felt good for a time, then I can't remember what happened. Next thing I knew I was in my bath tub, in a pair of boxers (I don't wear boxers BTW, so WTF man) and the tub was filled with orange soda. I have never, EVER done drugs since, I like remembering what the hell I do, makes it easier to lie about what I've done.
... sorry to say, but you pot was spiked; MJ doesn't do that kind of shit on it's own. At best you have a damn good time, at worst you might get some (admittedly hardcore) paranoia and/or green out (sort of the equivalent of drinking till you puke, but it happens less often).

I have been smoking pot for years, and let me tell you, the good times and the bad times butt heads a lot. For that reason, I would neither discredit nor endorse it. I will say, however, that you don't always really know what it is you're smoking (being that illegal channels don't usually include a safety code).

As for other drugs? I don't trust them. Even alcohol is pushing it for me.

Well actually I don't drink coffee or coca-cola, and I don't have caffeine in signifacant amounts anyway. Infact I have no use for energy drinks cus I can just naturally wake up early.
"But, officer, that was just one line of cocaine! I don't even use that stuff!"

Have you ever tried coffee or coca-cola? You've done drugs.

And I won't mention various medicine that can qualify as drugs at this point, I think I've hammered that in enough.
Do you realize I mean illegal drugs?

I smoke a shit load of pot for recreational and medicinal purposes. Hell even if it wasn't for medicinal purposes id still smoke it. I quit alcohol and took up pot. Less hassle, less side effects and no horrible hangover. Cheaper too.

I did pot once. It was ok. I think i would do it again, if i had the chance, but i'm not going out of my way to try it again.
Other than that, just alcohol from time to time.

I prefer to get my 'high' off of other things...
So you're high on your mother's love?(sorry, cartoon reference, couldn't help myself)
OT: Nope, never did, and never will. Why? Because I'm all about performance as an individual, and I can't see them helping me(well maybe cocaine which boost your perception, but considering it can cause heart attacks, it's out of discussion)
I get it off being happy and helping others. That's how my ''feel good'' feelings happen. Ohh, and sex. That too. :p
Can you help me get high?

O.T. If you consider pot to be a drug, yeah I'm a druggie :O
What's so awesome about them? Mhmhm.. You must find out for yourself ;D

No, I've never seen the point. Also going O_O at the number of drug-users here, I guess it's more common than I thought.

All you guys acting like you can't see the appeal in drugs are hypocrits! Escpecially since you state that on a site like the ESCAPIST. Drugs are all about ESCAPING the reality, thoughts, feelings as we usualy perceive them. Now guess what. This is exactly what you do when you play games, read books, go to the movies, listen to music, surf the web or whatever your thing is. I go scubadiving for the exact same reason. Doesn't matter if it is Drugs or other forms of escapism. The goal is the same and you sirs are all very much seeing the appeal of that.

Sorry for the rant, but come on..

Is there a difference? The effect is the same, the detriments are in some cases worse then the ones you get with illegal drugs, and so on.

"Doing drugs" is a dumb way of saying you take something illegal. Technically, anything you take into your body that's not food is a drug, and anything that you eat to replenish nutrients is food. Hence, alcohol is a drug. So's coffee, since that stimulant you get is just as addictive and non-essential as the high you get smoking weed. If you take a prescription drug, no one says you're on drugs, since it's legal.

That said, I don't get any drugs you don't need. Alcohol to me smells awful and tastes worse. If I wanted to breathe in smoke that could kill my lungs and brain cells, I'd stand behind my dad's beat up sedan with the motor running. Taking pills for a high is a bother, since I hate taking even aspirin for a migraine. The concept of "recreational drugs" is right up there with "part-time suicide": it doesn't really exist. Either you don't take them or you depend on them. And if I need the red pill to be happy, I'd better be seeing a therapist for it.
