Probably a fad like half the things that happen on these forums.

EDIT: From the responses I gather there is some new MLP animated series or something?
Umm...yeah. It took you a while to figure that out, Didn't it? :p
Nope I just don't keep up with cartoons anymore.
No I saw the series bit and figured there was a series based on the OP and the next two or three comments. I wasn't aware of the series until now because I do not keep up with cartoons anymore. Are you done trying to feel intellectually superior by hanging on the details of my comments now?
Wait, but I asked you if what you were saying was that you didn't know of the show because you didn't watch children's cartoon's much, so why are you saying no when you're confirming what I asked? On the subject of the part I bolded: Not really, I'm confused by the way you worded what you've posted and I thought the mild snarkiness would be funny. If I wanted to make myself look better than you I would point out how you improperly quoted my post... :-D *note this is an attempt at silliness and I'm not trying to imply I'm automatically smarter just because your post didn't quote me properly*
My comment was poorly worded due to haste. Most people would go "meh" and move on.

In the words of a brilliant Engineer: NOPE.
I thought that's how it started too, up until the thread continued for a solid 4 pages describing how good it was to others.
I watched one episode, then thought I'd give two a go.
After the second I found out they were just pilots and decided maybe I should watch three to see if it changed drastically.
With three I noticed the characterised one pony in particular so I thought I'd watch the next five so I could get a good grasp on the characters and see how it went from there.
Then I watched one more after that to see where they'd go with it and to which I stopped myself and said: "Radoh, you've just watched eight episodes and are on the ninth, admit you like ponies.
I did and I feel great about it.

IT'S MY LITTLE PONY.

IT'S MY LITTLE PONY.

One is a fairly realistic show, based off of one of the most intellectually interesting series concepts of all time, which essentially invented the episodic character-driven genre. Which MLP is.

And the other is about pastel-colored googly-eyed horses.

Be that as it may, I am now watching the first episode on youtube. I'll be back.
Yeah no that guy was just trolling. I feel super gullible now.

It's like I'm the worst hipster in Portland, only instead of Portland it's the internet. I'm pretty much equal to the people saw Battle of LA [http://www.dreadcentral.com/reviews/battle-los-angeles-2011-0] and found out why everyone thought the new Battle: LA movie was awful, although probably still a tier above those who have now devoted their kefiah- and soccer jersey-wearing existences to enjoying it ironically.

I saw the first two episodes but I still don't get it. Although I know that the most sane character is one called Derpy Hooves [sub]or something similar[/sub].

Captcha: ofGaia. desite. Well apparently captcha thinks I'm on Gaia and wants me off but I'm not...

Ironic nothing. This series is full of moments that made me genuinely burst out laughing because of the content, not because it came from animated ponies. One fine example would be the famous 'Rarity is NOT whinning' moment, which had caught me quite off-guard at the time.

Yeah, I was on a forum where this was brought up. At first I thought it was just your standard joking/trolling motive, like, "Hey, but what if one of the characters jacked off while thinking about dinosaurs?" or that kind of thing, but as I looked over the initial post and more than 20 comments it slowly dawned on me that, "So Sherlock and My Little Pony are my two newest obsessions, what would happen if they met?" was a totally serious, non-ironic, non-sarcastic, actual fucking QUESTION.

Admittedly, I've not seen the new show; I hadn't even heard of it at the time. But seriously? No. Just, no. There is no fucking way this can be okay.
Actually, that could be an interesting question - I mean (and I'm going to go with Sherlock Holmes here =P), the great detective would probably have to put Pinkie Pie down to his latest heroin buzz, and Pinkie Pie would...ask him why he was doing drugs, probably. In song form. And then advise the substitution of hugs instead. Also in song form =D

People make silly connections when they're fans of something. If they find a serious audience, then let them enjoy the discussion =)

OT:

I like the show, because I love cartoons that are written with an attendant adult audience in mind. This stuff is not just for kids...I guess my life is easier because I am a girl, so I don't have to nervously question my masculinity every time I see something pink or cute, and I'm over 20, so I've passed the age of adolescence where I have to aggressively defend my great and venerable *snort* age against anything that's for 'kids', so...guess I'm all set.

I don't mean everyone has to like the show, by no means. I'm just poking fun at the people who get bizzarely worked up over it because it's 'for little girls'. =P

Nice.

I'd admit that I'm inclined to believe that's a plausible explanation for most average interest.
While I only checked the first one because of time constraints, I was not overly displeased and figured I could probably stand to sit through at least a couple further. /:

However, I have not yet, and currently consider it beyond the reach of my free time to start in on another TV series.

Besides, as a meme, it is enough for me.

"Confound these Ponies. They drive me to insomnia."..or something along those lines. Not accurate in my case, but amusing all the same. ^_^

I swear these same old topics get recycled on weekly basis...
Well, at least we haven't seen a Zombie thread in a while... though we did have 3 "recommend me" thread in the past few days although only 2 of the 3 were anime ones at least. And right now there's the monthly (not weekly) thread about Chivalry up... Probably a ton of repeat thread this week which I already forgot about though.

Yeah, it seems as soon as a pony thread dies down a new one is started up again in a day or two.
Well this particular repeat thread tend has only been happening for about 5 days though at least. Eventually when no one has any questions about it, the haters of it just begin ignoring its existence and the fans of it stick to talking about it in the user group or on a MLP forum else where it will stop being a daily thread topic.
I've also seen a lot of "Half life 2 is overrated!" threads recently. Wonder when it will repeat itself again.

Another one of these threads. I swear we get one of these every week.

It's a great show, fun, humorous, ridiculously good animation given it's all done in Flash.

Alright, call me silly but I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about here. I understand you went and watched an episode, but beyond that I got nothing. It might just be the sleep deprivation keeping my cognitive functions down, but would you mind elaborating upon this?

The show must be either appreciated ironically, or harbor some sort of hypnotic power. I watched five minutes of an episode and while I will concede it wasn't as hideously saccharine and stupid as it could have been, it was still nothing special, and certainly not something I would identify with to the point of calling myself a "brony". I don't find the show itself disturbing, or the fact that it has a large male audience, it's the fact that it's garnered a massive audience from both genders and various age groups over the course of a month, and has already become a meme, that freaks me out a bit.

Now, to be fair, Portland hipsters tend to avoid keffiehs and soccer jerseys in favor of tweed jackets and freakish hairdos. Do your hipster homework.

Huh...Is that really all it's been?

I...guess I've been more buried in class than I'd realized... 0.o

Noting that...it does seem....odd/strange/profound/improbable/incredible/etc..

But I feel the need still to write a light novel titled "That one guy on some forum that didn't word things properly". I'm hoping New York Times will declare it the "best book based around a minor complaint about someone on the internet of all time" :p

You know, there is over six pages of discussion that you brushed aside. Seems like maybe you should go back and read some of it before dismissing it out-of-hand.

My Little Pony? The Show from the 80's? They made a new one huh? I wasn't aware that it had returned to cult status. All the girlies wanted these when I was a wee lad. Guess things haven't changed that much after all.

I read three pages before I couldnt stop laughing. Pretty sure the next 3 will be more of the same. Lol. I mean, like what you will but I find it outstandingly hilarious.

My Y chromosome says hi.

If you were trying to be insulting by insinuating that all men who like MLP are girly. I can't exactly speak for everypony, but I say machismo is for suckers.
