their politicians (besides Obama and Lincon), hollywood, disney. yeah, i could go on for a LOOOONG time.

and so what if you´ve won wars, war is a bad thing. also, America started the Iraq war.
you are 100% ignorant. obama is a little 3 year old fucker playing tee balls compared to great presidents like lincoln (i shudder that you even considered comparing them) who by comparison are smacking 90 mph fastballs out of the park in the MLB. what about presidents like washington, both roosevelts, reagan and so many others.

ill give you hollywood but dont you fucking go near disney. i absolutely adore disney and there is nothing wrong with that. sure some retards talk about the word sex in the lion king but what kid could point that out. hell i only realized it at about 15 when someone told me.
as far as the war thing read my last post. i agree that war is bad but unfortunately its necessary.

I have a question: Why do so many people complain so much about one country?
Probably because said country is responsible for quite a lot of horrible things in the world. The fact is, we're the biggest oil importer, and we're the biggest food importer. This leads to people rightly thinking that Americans are fat. The last I checked, the average American weighed about 300 pounds. We're gas hogs, and, for the most part, we spend gas on a commute that could be done by bike or foot.
i recently came across a study that said that the europeon nations were fatter than us
ill try and find it later
To my knowledge, it's Australia actually, maybe we're second.

Between the whole anti-Obama faction decrying everything that the man does (Fox News and the shouting town hall meetings and such) and a very publicized broken governmental system, it's not easy to find things to be happy about.

i like Obama...
i think that he's acually try no matter what everyone else is saying about him.
people are also going to doubt him because he is the first African-American president.
its going to happen..

stuff like that is going to happen because us as humans are going to complain because we are a bunch of retards..
i have lost my faith in humanity because of it.. (if i even had it before..)
First off, E.M. White, don't play the race card. You are opening Pandora's Box. Racial prejudices and motivations are not tangible enough to throw into a discussion. You don't talk about the doubts being racially motivated here, and I won't talk about his popularity being racially motivated.

Second, why do people become offended when Obama gets criticized? What president was not attacked by the party in opposition? This isn't a bad thing. We can't allow the president to become too popular, because that gives him enough influence over congress to screw us. It is our duty as citizens to scrutinize and show utter contempt for any asshole whose thirst for power is enough to make him run for president.

The news about america(even the news from within the country) is like that because no one here really cares about how nice people are to one another, they want to see the pricks and dickholes so they can criticize them and make themselves feel better. At least thats what the more vocal ones want. And hey, aren't they mostly pricks and dicholes themselves. Huh. One way to make the country better, stop just polling the ones who are in your face about their opinions, cause they are the ones making the country even suckier.
"Mexicans is takin ur jobs, we shud keep'em outta her, we don't need no stinkin' immigrants", random prick the news found.

Oh I heartily agree, criticism is great for everyone. It's when the mainstream media against him fabricates facts about...well let's say his health care plan this time since it's the hot button issue now, that gets annoying. I love to hear good legitimate criticism of his ideas, not "ZOMG HES GONNA KILL OLD PEOPLE!!"

I tossed up the idea of locking everything, but for the most part people are being civil (Not friendly, but civil) and intelligent. Ideas are being discussed, words tossed and facts debated. There are worse things for the forum to do with its time.

Besides, remember the golden rule: All this has happened before, and will happen again.
Damn, Ultrajoe, you are right. Sorry to get bent out of shape, maybe I just need to take a break from the forums for a while.

your mostly right but there's one thing i have to say.
us as Americans don't look too deep in to our history to judge ourselves.
we should notice that the people are still standing for what we did from the beginning. being different.
the problem with that?

well... we are assholes about it.

personally i say fuck it to nations. we live on the same rock. and lets work together to fuck with the other intelligent creatures that live on another rocks.

^ this exactly
Also why cant we complain this freely about other countries without catching absolute hell from everyone with a computer?
People can totally rip America (in its entirety, with no proof) but when I rip on china's government I get suspended?
------------------------------
Every country has problems and every country is just as gung-ho about its self (unless its Germany because they must have sections missing from their history books, and Japan feels the need to apologize to us every year so I guess you can rule them out as well.) How about we do a topic on the middle East and how in most of the countries its ok to stone women to death, or hang them, or cut of their head for showing their ankles? Is that not an issue with anyone else? How about in Africa when someone commits a crime they get a car tire filled with oil put around their neck then its lit on fire until it burns through their spine? How about when the entire country is blamed for the acts of a few stupid elected officials? How about when we get harassed for attacking countries that openly stated their hatred and their hopes to one day destroy our nation and kill our inhabitants? The reason we are a nation is because of the shit we caught from people who hated our beliefs so we pushed off and created a power plant of a nation in 1/4th the time it took European nations.

If you have some free time actually visit our country and get educated about it.Don't listen to some internet gutter snipes.

Don't give me that "We pulled you into a war" bullshit either, your leaders made the final decisions and we acted using intel from every country that is now involved. If you didn't want to go you should have made that clear to your leaders. We don't run your country, you run your country. Take up your slack and have some self-respect and responsibility. Even France was talking about Saddam's WMD's.

Well, that's actually a complaint about George Bush. But you guys did vote for him! Just teasing, I know that you are all individuals, but Republicans are evil. If anyone contests me, I will just give them that fact.
I agree with you somewhat (really, your argument against government healthcare is bureaucrats? We have those: they're called insurance), but just for the sake of friendly argument (read: complimenting each other's points and drinking tea while wearing monocles), could you back that up some? Nothing in your post that set me off (I come from a proud liberal family), I just like playing devil's advocate.

But with America in general, my main problem is just nationalism, with both politicians and the public. It's a stupid thing regardless of country, it's just that Americans have a lot more of it and, living there, I'm more exposed to it.

When will those democrats learn that private death panels are the best solution?

Seriously though, I'm as annoyed as you are. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the town hall meeting astroturfing. But as Monty Python says, always look on the bright side of life, and turn on the Daily Show to laugh at this nonsense.

Edit: Oops, double post, but I've done worse.

As a side not if you go to a town hall meeting and ask a good question make sure you can fight back because they have union workers "brown shirting" the area and beating the hell out of people who disagree with the bill. Legitimate arguments or not, the union reps will attempt to beat the hell out of you.

My hate of America is the culture of their News programing where the opinons of those reading the news seems to be the actual news instead of reporting the events and allowing the viewer to draw their own conculsions.

Oh and not being able to deal with the fact that having Christian forefathers does not make America a Christian nation and thus not being a Christian does not make an individual anyless American or patriotic.

Proposition 8? really in the "land of the free", but only if you're not Gay

Hmm that actually sounds....fun. I like a good scare and ruffling feathers. My town's far too bland perhaps I'll come prepared with some complaints about shady deals we've made in the past, see how much news I can make. IRL trolling is a great thing, especially with older people who are so set in their seat of power ways that a young kid with good ideas seems ludicrous.

Alright so we've got a major highway that runs right in the middle of my town. At exit 39, there's an entrance and exit to the northbound lane of traffic. On the southbound lane however, there's only an entrance. It's a big nuisance to have to travel down an extra exit to get off at 39. This was put into place because a developer wanted to bottleneck traffic at exit 38 where a new grocery store was being put in, with hopes to get more customers to drive by the place. He basically paid off a few town officials to say that 39 isn't suitable for a southbound exit lane even though there used to be one before the supermarket plaza was put in.

This happened years ago and I feel like it's time to ruffle some feathers over at town hall.

What's 'wrong' with America today is that it's got too many spoiled, whiny, ingrates who waste their time whining about how terrible their own country is. Instead of complaining about it on some forum, why not get out there and DO something about it?

The American population was originally constructed from criminals, religious extremists and the Irish.

Since those humble origins, America had grown into a great World Power, sentancing judgement on other countries while committing great atrocities itself. After commiting great atrocities America also sees that those affected are never given compensation, and any effort to sue America is thrown out at the first stages of court.

As with most countries, there are a lot of things wrong with America, and I think you hit the nail on the head with your points there. There's a lot that America could easily do that it isn't doing to not only improve its image but to overall improve the country vastly.
