I love me some Water magic, and when that is not available to use in a game, I tend to go with Ice.

Hmm, it's been done before, but I think it was all in Off-topic. My off-topic answer is still air, but...

It really depends on what the elements offer in any particular game. In Soulbringer, for example, I pretty much always wind up imbalanced towards Fire, because it's just about the only element with spells worth spamming, and Magma is the most awesome AoE damage spell in the game. If I were playing Guild Wars, on the other hand, I usually relied on Earth to protect my squishy self. In tabletop D&D 3.5e, however, the answer is, hands down, Sonic. Seriously, it's the second-least resisted damage type there is (pretty sure the least is Force). And in Age of Wonders, all of the elements have something going for them, though I usually avoid Death.

I guess, just for sake of picking a single one, I'll go with Air.

You're only saying that because your Avatar is a frog, which was a hero from Chrono Trigger who was named Frog. He was under the water element but used ice magic.
ITS NOT A FROG, ITS A HYPN-ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!

Okay, Force=(acceleration)(mass), the acceleration to stop light is (3.0*10^8 m/s^2), so no matter what mass you have you'll do enough damage to destroy a good sized city.

LIGHT PWNS, not because its bright, not because it has dual wave-particle motion, but because it is FAST

Edit: My total mass is between 50 and 70 kgs, so i could apply a force of 1.8*10^9 Newtons of force to an object if i collide with one, that is enough to accelerate 100,000 tons of anything by 10 m/s^2, or to increase it's speed by 36 mph every second.
