Poll: Whats your favorite classic RPG?

I'm going with Daggerfall. Even though it was full of bugs and glitches, and a lot of the locations were repeated, it was and still is the most massive rpg I've ever played.

Diablo 1 and 2 are not RPG's.
They are hack and slash games like Gauntlet. There is no role to play, and it's mostly a connect the dots game with no storyline.

There are stats, there is loot, there are skill points, there are character builds, there are HP/MP meters. They're RPGs. Just without moral choices.

Umm that's what a RPG is. If you play fallout, and slaughter a village and your rep makes it so the next bigger town won't let you in that is roleplaying. Consequences to actions taken or not taken. Adding a +10 ax, and having a red life bar and a blue mana bar does not give your fighter personality or a rpg make.

Just making a combat stat sheet is not playing a role. If that's the case pac-man is a RPG.
Even the 386 SSI D&D game had events that would happen if you did or did not do a request task. If Diablo was a RPG why with the rampant PKing would a city let a Paladin in their gates who slaughters other heroes trying to save the world?

Of the ones you listed it's Baldurs gate...except I didn't like it.

Of this list the only one I've played was FF1 and I haven't beaten it yet.

I voted for Chrono Trigger because it kicks ass, but you didn't have my all time favorite classic RPG on the list, albeit an action RPG but an RPG none the less, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. That game is freaking awesome to me, and it was probably the largest original Gameboy game, it's length was just a bit shorter than A Link to the Past and it really draws you in.

I've played just about everything on the list save Icewind Dale and Daggerfall. My vote is definitely Chrono Trigger. I typically don't play jRPGs, but this one must have had all the right stars aligned because it was fantastic.
