Poll: When did you hit puberty?

Got my first noticeable sign (read: pube) at 13 as I recall it, so I can only assume then.

Usually the naughty bits get noticeably bigger before pubic hair shows up. I mean, it's not something you'd notice or remember because it seems gradual at the time, but it's objectively noticeable.

Yeah I probably worked that wrong, I don't remember much of it really it was so gradual, I swear I just woke up one day to find I had hair and my pants were more snug...

Yeah. It's sort of like relative growth in school. There are the people who noticeably "shoot up" in high school, those who "lag behind" and those who don't seem to grow in proportion to you. The shortest kid in my elementary school seemed to do that. In high school I would've sworn he hadn't grown since elementary school. Then I realized that he was probably about 5'2" (which is still really short) or so by junior year, which would've made him one of the tallest kids in fifth grade.

Darned subjectivity. Ditto for smell. You don't really notice that your body odor is changing until one day you sweat a lot or stop doing laundry.

About 9, possibly a little earlier... yeah not having any older siblings or relatives to show me about porn and such meant I was pleasantly surprised to find out at the age of 12 that I wasn't the only person interested in nudity and similar. Sounds silly now, but I was quite innocent even for my age...

Due to this I discoverd masturbation by accident at the age of 11, didn't find out until atleast a year later that other people did it too.

Also, "about average" for girls is probably 11-13 somewhere.

Actually puberty for girls begins before their first menstral cycle and can be as young as 8 years old.

But that's "as young as," not "about average."

Younger than 12 isn't actually "really early" for females. Many females start puberty around 11.

I did get a huge growth spurt in my second year of secondary school, which was when I was.. uh...

I had my first dick hardening at around 9, so that was incredibly early. Didn't know it was part of puberty, though. Just thought that it was caused by not peeing for a long time...

The other stuff like my sex drive, voice cracking, etc, didn't happen until I was 11-13.

I know I was just adding something else to the disscussion. I realise now that it sounded a litle blunt, so I apologise. However the range of 8-13 is generally used as an average start point for puberty, due to the different onsets of the various stages. The average you refer to is the onset of the menarche.
