You should get tested for STIs after every sexual partner anyway. Some people have them and are unawares.
Welcome to American health care system.
Planned Parenthood is great if you have access to one.
Everything but AIDS and HPV is pretty much self evident
False. -Loads- of STIs are asymptomatic: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/std-symptoms/ID00053
I mean, I have a hard enough time getting girls to talk to me. I can't add, "I have an uncurable STD" to that list. I'd almost rather not know.
I'm sure you'd want to know if you had a curable one.
According to this, it's not that simple. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/std-testing/ID00047
I don't fall under the criteria for any of the STD testing, except for HIV/hepatitis (which seems, I know,
seems very unlikely given the circumstances). For some reason, most of the testing is recommended for women and gay men. Herpes and HPV can't even really be tested if there aren't visible warts or lesions. And the classics like gonorrhea and chlamydia can be found in simple urine tests, which I'll probably get anyways at some point between now and the next time I have sex.
Women really get the shaft (unintended pun) when it comes to STDs. There don't seem to be too many complications when it comes to men and these things, whereas women can get really messed up if it goes untreated. With guys, either it burns or it doesn't. Everything else is uncurable.
