Poll: When do you think Duke Nukem forever will come out?

honestly, I don't even think Nukem fans are expecting DNF (coincidentally, Duke nuke'm was also a fabulous captain planet villain)

Have you seen the screenshots on 3DRealms' website? The game looks like a first-generation PlayStation2 game. No antialiasing, muddy textures, atrocious art style...Morrowind looks better than those screencaps.

I hope it does come out but it wont be the end of the earth if it doesn't. They should have just released it back in the 90's when it was powered by the quake engine and then got to work on duke 5 then we could have had duke 6 last year powered by the crysis engine. Then the world could just keep turning, This thing they are doing be remaking the game every time a new benchmark is reached in graphics tachnology is just stupid.

I don't think it will ever come out. I also don't think it will ever get officially cancelled. We might get notice that it's "on hiatus," but I kind of doubt it.

It's kind of a tragedy that they didn't release the one on this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHU3sq8Wfjs] engine, though. Those graphics are distinctly 2001, but the trailer actually looks like a pretty good, fun, entertaining game. It looks like a game I would enjoy, which is amazing, because Duke Nukem as a franchise has never held any appeal for me, and I don't like Duke 3d. Everything they've released since then reminds me of Prey (a game made by the same company), which is bad because Prey was a very pedestrian, forgettable game.

Although when it does come out, I think that pedestrian will be an excellent description of it. Forgettable it will not be, in the same way that Daikatana isn't forgettable.

That would be great, but the newer videos look like every other over-bump-mapped, over-filtered, under-developed mediocre shooter that's been released in the past few years. I doubt that the old game will get released, which is a tragedy.

When that game gets published I'm going to have funeral for the best video game joke, ten years running. It doesn't matter if the game is good or bad, its sheer existence will sully the once great gag that is Duke Nukem Forever.

It will come out, eventually. Sooner or later someone will get involved who'll get the damn thing finished and shipped.

The problem is, when it does arrive, it will be torn to pieces. It will at most be a fairly decent game, maybe even good, but the chances of it justifying its development cycle are astronomical.

But at least we'll all get a good laugh out of it

According to the books I've read on game design lately, the more cycles you put a game through, the better it'll be. If that's true, Duke Nukem Forever must be so good it causes your eyeballs to fly out of your socket and dance a waltz on your keyboard as you helplessly drool in slack-jawed eye.

Here's hoping it's vaporware, I don't want to live an eyeless shell-shocked freak for the rest of my life.

When Duke comes out, Lara will be heartbroken.

They are masters of fucking with the gaming audience, atleast us who are old enough to have played Duke Nukem back when he was the King of video games.

...Duke Nukem was never the "King" of video games.

Duke Nukem 3D wasn't that good to begin with, mostly due to the horrid Build engine, and Duke 1, 2 and all the spinoffs are hardly worth mentioning. Duke3D is quite fun with the High Definition Pack mod, though.
