Definitely within the last few months. I don't buy many films in general as there are very few I enjoy enough to want to watch more than once, but I buy almost all of my music in physical format.

Why just today actually. I bought The Expendables 2 and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Adventures in the Crystal Empire. How's that for extreme opposites?

I prefer to get a solid copy for movies, from a physical store. That way, if there is something wrong, I can talk to an actual person and returns are super easy and instant. Shopping for stuff online is quick and easy I'll admit, but if something goes wrong, it always feels like a gamble to me if you're going to be able to resolve it.

Can't remember the last CD I bought, they just sit on my shelf and gather dust, everything else is digital downloads put onto burned MP3 CD's for the car. As far as movies though, I buy them pretty frequently, especially if I go to one of the better used bookstores in town that also happens to have a pretty good DVD selection. Occasionally I'll buy new from Best Buy or Barnes & Nobel, but for the most part I enjoy looking for cult or obscure movies in used stores.

Last movie I bought was a copy of The Avengers on Blu Ray I think, which I believe was in September.

As for music I'd say about 8-9 months but I'm not entirely sure.

I kickstarted an album over the summer. I had the digital copy in August, but the physical version should be shipping out soon. So that like half counts?

Before that? Probably the same band, album before the one before I kickstarted it. The one in the middle was a pre-order, so (again) I gave them money before they made any music. But the third most recent was a legitimate "I give you cash, you give me a CD" transaction. That was two years ago.

I legitimately have no idea when the last time I bought a physical movie was. I see most of my movies on Netflix or rent or purchase them from Amazon Instant Video.

I'm totally on board with the digital switch over. I moved in September, and a big part of that was moving twelve boxes full of books. I never want to buy another book again. Go to Amazon, download them to my iPad, be happy forever. Screw physical books. Same goes for movies, CDs, and games, really. Moving physical media is a pain.

i hate downloading music, and quite simply unless the artist has posted a song for free or something i dont download, ive never payed for a downloaded song, i do however have quite the large cd collection

why? mainly because digital only content has problems, A there are control issues (thusly why i hate itunes and steam) you dont own anything, and secondly becuase i feel that if my compter crashes not only do i have backups on my external, but i also have my stack of cd's just to be safe, and plus it just feels better to glance at that cd in your hand as compared to that nothing in your hand from a download

and as for other films i always buy, ive bought a few digital through psn, and i hate watching it since i have to jump through their hoops before i can watch something i paid for, like i said before, you dont own it, you are just allowed to look as long as your nice to them, where as with a dvd/bluray i can own the disk and can watch whenever and however i feel like

Last thing was a CD for my dad's birthday... Over 6 months ago, that was.
That's pretty much all I really buy physical copies for anymore. Someone's birthday (I feel like it carries a bit more value if it's something tangible, rather than just a gift card or code to use online).
As for myself, I really just prefer digital copies, unless it's something really special to me. E.g. my limited edition DVD of the Footrot Flats movie which I got as a present a few years ago. Makes me happy just looking at it. :D

Haven't bought a physical copy of any music or movie in over 3 years. Downloading is much more convenient. Also I tend to not take good care of CDs so they end up scratched a not working, which isn't a problem with downloads. As well they don't take up space, and I can store them all in one convenient location.

The last time I bought any physical game was June 14, 2012. (I've gone full PC gaming)
The last time I bought a physical album was like 6 in 2002.
I don't think I've ever bought a physical movie. I either rented or borrowed from a friend.

I buy most of my music fairly frequently now on disc as opposed to download. With a CD I can do whatever I want to it, rip it however I like, and actually have far more options with my ownership than a digitally downloaded version I find. Due to this, if I am quite fond of the band, and feel that they are more than a one hit wonder, I will be more inclined to purchase an actual CD of theirs, even if it'll be ripped shortly after acquiring.

Recent CD purchases include:

Say Anything - Say Anything
Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre
TV On The Radio - Dear Science
Jamiroquai - High Times (Singles 1992-2006)

More distant (6+ months):

Pendulum - Immersion
Bedouin Soundclash - Street Gospels
Say Anything - ... Is A Real Boy

Think those are all the ones I've bought in the past year.

Oh, and sharing a CD is far easier for me.

As for film, I generally buy disc, because I watch them on my PC while I eat supper, but there are some that I'll buy digitally for my iPhone. Mostly though, I just look for films that have digital copies to them if I like them/am interested in them. Examples include Drive, Serenity, Avengers, and Hanna.

DVD's purchased recently:

Uh... Can't list all of the top of head/already mixed in with collection

Edit:

As for physical game, Assassin's Creed 3 was my last purchase, and honestly, that's the last one I've gotten in months, except for a couple that I got for $10-20 but can't remember the names of. Virtually all of my game purchases are now done through Steam.

I hate digital copies of things, I prefer to have the physical thing in my hands :/ If you have the physical movie/music, no one can take that away from you (... for the most part).

There are times where I don't have much of a choice in the matter, though. Some games are incredibly hard to find the physical copies of (at least for a decent price) but are fairly easy to buy as digital only. And are sometimes cheaper. Sometimes.

But yeah I just got in ACIII (for PC) and the latest Kamelot album Silverthorn today, aw yeah.

I bought a bunch of DVDs like a couple weeks ago. And I will again a couple weeks from now. I prefer physical copies of film. Music? I don't buy physical music. Not worth it.

Not entirely sure. Bought a bunch of VHS tapes a while back, but I am not sure how far back that was. The last physical album I bought was even farther back, but it probably isn't longer than 6 months.

Movies I buy occasionally when I see something I want in the sales bin you can find in pretty much any supermarket here. Album is trickier... Must've been well over five years ago.

I suffered a grand music library wipe a while back. I do all hard copies of music, now.

I bought "Lungs" by Florence + The Machine and "The Campfire Headphase" by Boards of Canada about three weeks ago. I'm due for more music when I have some cash.

I am beginning to prefer digital copies of things. It is just easier, and most of my music goes on my Ipod/laptop anyway. Less physical copies, means less clutter and less objects to dust.

Now I haven't stopped buying physical movies yet, but that is because I haven't signed up for Netflixs yet....yet. I think buying a physical movie is more important to me then a physical album.

This might be because I was used to downloading music a lot in my youth off of things like Limewire. R.I.P
The problem with doing it that way is the sound quality is always worse off of things like Rhapsody or Amazon/itunes what have you...... If you buy a physical copy and then rip it and load it on that way there is a noticeable difference in regards to the quality.

Oddly enough, I just bought the soundtracks to Wreck-It Ralph & The Avengers just about a week ago. Fun stuff. :D

Movie-wise... I think the last one I bought was the Avengers, though Dark Knight Rises comes out before Xmas, so I'll likely get that too... and then I'll just wait for Amazing Spiderman to show up in the bargain bin eventually.

I tend to buy every piece of media in a physical format if possible... especially with music. You'd think these download services could sell FLAC, but nooooo...

Rip in FLAC, it sounds better.
