When you hear "Dune", what's the first think that comes into your mind?

For me, it's one of the movies, to be more exact, the 1984 version by David Lynch.

I think of Dune 2000 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_2000], the first RTS I ever played.

Good times, good times.

A sandy hill. I also remember there are some books or something called Dune, and that I should probably know what it is, but then I can't be bothered and just think of a sandy hill instead.

I considered going there... Did the word remind you of "dun" or "dyne"? And is that there a real "ederdunsdyne"?

Well, I mostly think of the board game set in Frank Herbert's Dune universe.
Some of my friends recreated it (since it's not in production anymore) and we've been playing it.

I think of the videogame 'Dune 2' because that was my first introduction to the world of Dune, although I have since seen the film and read the book. On a side note, Dune 2 was also my first RTS - loved them ever since.

The books by Herbert. Haven't read them in ages though. *puts them on the to-read list this summer*

This is my experience.

Growing up near a beach, what else was I suppose to think of first?

And I still don't understand why they considered dunes so interesting that they named a book and a movie after them...
