Well i taught that Hunter and Sandworm where 2 of the worst book i have ever read... I had predicted both big reveal while only 1/4 in "Hunter" That the paysents where Omnius and Erasme, and that the prophet of Navigator was Nolia... And it feel like they forced the characters of theyr books in them for no reason, no thouses books are certenelly far behinds children of Dune and Emperor GodDana22 said:No not really.Talvrae said:as long as you forget Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Dune is awesome, so does Dune Messiah. Children and God Emperor are really boring, full of phylosphical jibberish and plot is tough to follow and understand. Heretics and Chapterhouse are very good. The Hunters and Sandworms are quite alright, better then 2 middle.
And im a Dune fanatic, I even have Litany Against Fear framed under my bed.
I think you just missed the whole point of Nalgas's post. Must I really explain the joke?Volafortis said:No, there were actually (I want to say 3) sequels. They were all terrible, and are often shunned by anyone who enjoyed the first. Which is why I linked to that XKCD.Nalgas D. Lemur said:Yeah, I only remember there being one book, too. It also probably could've made a decent movie, but I don't remember anyone ever trying to adapt it. Probably for the best, since sci-fi stuff like that usually gets butchered.Volafortis said:The book.

You know, they wanted to call the song "dune", but Herbert was a pretentious dick and wouldn't let them because he didn't like heavy metal.DVSAurion said:The Iron Maiden song To Tame a Land, which is based on the book.

Same here, and I was very disappointed that it wasn't one of the options.Folio said:When I hear 'Dune' I want to react with: "The spice must flow!"

You know, even though the books are great, they show Herbert himself to be extremely old-fashioned. The role he makes women play in the novel is a very backwards view, as if they should be entertainments and servants, and making the Baron Harkonnen a homosexual paedophile shows just where he stood in regards to gays.

Apparently my agreement with you was too subtle. I also only liked the first book, totally failed to get into/enjoy anything past that, and thought the movie was junk. Heh.Volafortis said:No, there were actually (I want to say 3) sequels. They were all terrible, and are often shunned by anyone who enjoyed the first. Which is why I linked to that XKCD.Nalgas D.
