Let's say you're PMing someone on the forum, for example. And you're asking him/her a question, in an appropriate and polite manner, and no matter how much you PM them they simply dont respond. You know for sure that they've read your message, but they still dont reply. And even when you go as far as to contact them in a game or through a public post on the forum - they still ignore you. Like, they pretend like you literally dont exist.

What would you do next? How would you feel about it? Would it piss you off, or you would simply move on and not care about it?

I'd move on and try to not care. I mean sure, I'd be pissed, maybe even hurt. But you can't force someone to talk to you, even in person. Its best to just ignore that person and try to find a means to answer whatever questions you have without them. I would't delete them from whatever passes as a contact/friends list, because that would mean you think you're punishing them by not contacting them, which in the long run only hurts your own self esteem.

Just move on.

Yeah, that certainly sounds like a good way to react to such situation. I thought to myself "why the hell am I still bothering with them" and that just changed everything . . .

I would stop spamming them because they clearly have no interest in talking to me.

It doesn't sound like you know the person very well and are hounding them "in an appropriate and polite manner."

People who ignore others for no good reason are just being jackasses, end of story.

Well, I wasnt necessarily being rude or crazy in what I sent that person, but I wrote a lot in my PMs to them with a lot ofe detail, so maybe they found that scary even if a little bit. But still, I am taking my time to write to them, so naturally I deserve a reply, even if they found my message to be inappropriate for any reason. Make sense?

No, you don't deserve a reply just because you wrote a long message. They don't owe you a reply if they don't want to respond to you.

Also, "wasn't necessarily being rude or crazy."

Edit: Okay, maybe that's a bit harsh. If someone doesn't respond to your PMs, just let it go. Constantly sending them messages is just going to make them more adverse to you. It might suck being ignored but just have some pride and move on.

I'd just lay off until later if I really wanted to speak with them.

Or I might just move on completely. Certain situations like this suck, but they're not hard to get over past the initial sting.

No option for trying to ask them why? Yeah, just ignore them then.

You do nothing, you don't message or follow them around, or get pissy about it. There can be any number of reasons why they aren't responding and it is on them to work their shit out and get back to you if they want to.

Until then you just get on with your life, unless this is some life threatening situation in which case I advise you call your local authorities.

Your poll options other than the "move on" one worry me.

If they're not replying, they don't want to talk to you.

They. Do. Not. Want. To. Talk. To. You.

Accept it and deal with it.

They might actually not be able to reply to you...my only access is through my works computer and whilst im based in the UK the computers are all proxy (I think mines Mexican) and as such this website wont let you reply to PM's.

Try not to over think things, there could be a very good simple explanation...

P.S In regards to this i'd just like to thank Aerostream for him to take the time out to send a PM to somebody for me...never got around to thanking him

Find their address and stalk them irl.
That was a joke
Please don't actually do that.

Any mature person would understand it's either 1 of 2 possibilities
Either they cannot respond to you, and thus you shouldn't keep spamming them.
Or they don't want to respond to you, and thus you shouldn't keep spamming them.

Or make an alt and stalk them

I say, ignore them right back. No need to bother someone who doesn't want to be bothered.

I've never had that happen to me but all the people I've messaged were in a conversation with me before for the most part, my answer would be to move on, if they don't want to talk they simply don't want to talk no point in doing something else.

I'd just figure that they don't want to talk and move on.
Or maybe you're wrong about them having read it, or they just don't have the time to respond yet, or they've forgotten to respond.
Or maybe you're not being as appropriate and polite as you think you are >.>

And we're stalkishly sure they read the messages?
How can that be? The only time I'm 100% sure someone has read my message is in a FB chat or similar that gives a small check or "has been noticed by x amount of ppl" in a bigger chat...
I wouldn't care, if someone doesn't answer me they don't. I thought we were going to talk about a friend here, random people in random forums from random parts of the world.... I wouldn't be surprised if someone ignored someone when they keep spamming them with inbox messages.
