Poll: When you use your computer at evening/night, do you have your lights on/off?

The lights are always off and there are blinds at the window so it's always night time. I like it that way.

I always have a lamp on, I can't stand only having the backlit screen. Then I'm unable to see the rest of the room properly and I get sorta paranoid. ;D

I tend to have the lights "dimmed". That partially is why i have a dark OS colorscheme (bright foreground on dark background) - more friendly on the eyes in a low-light environment.

LCD screens are miles better than the old crt ones but I still keep the lights on whenever I'm on the computer. Keep it up and your probably going to end up damaging your sight.

Only turn em off when I'm watching a film and even then I'll be sitting back from the computer not on my computer chair but on the couch behind it.

It depends on what I've just been doing before going on the computer, if the light was on beforehand I won't switch it off.

Normally, I leave my lights on until my roommate falls asleep, then I turn the lights off.

Just my small reading light to prevent my eyes from hurting. The only time I totally turn the lights off is when I really want to get completely immersed, like when I'm playing Amnesia: Dark Descent. Well...when I dare to, which isn't very often.

I have them off mostly. That way, my eyes only notice things on the screen and not anything random in my room.

OT; Lights on during evenings and nights unless it´s summer(bright enough outside 24/7 so I don't need to). I get a really heavy headache if my screen got a white colour for a long time and nothing else in the room is evening it out.

Well, my computer is the night. It is also vengeance.

Keeping the lights off is bad for your eyes.

I keep them on.

Likewise, not about to turn the lights off.

Well, maybe sometimes. Generally when I work, saving on electricity and whatnot.

I have a small cliplight with an energy saving bulb hanging over my desk that I turn on. Using a PC in the dark makes my eyes hurt. >:

On, looking at a computer screen for too long in the dark will mess up yer eyes, particularly if its bright.

Saying that, there are some games that really do need to be played in the dark. Your Dooms, Amnesias and Dead Spaces.

I usually have a small desk lamp turned on a low dim setting so theres enough light to see my keyboard, but isn't bright enough to ruin a dark level in a game.

It's a good way to knacker your eyes trying to read/use the computer/play on a console in a fairly dark space as it strains your eyes. It actually hurts mine more-or-less straight away if I try to play in the dark so I never do.
