I voted for Mirror's Edge, while I love "still alive" by Johnathan Coulton for Portal I chose "still alive" for mirror's edge because I knew it would be the winner, hence I voted for the underdog.

Also I love trance, its the logical extension of classical music, unfortunatly Euro trance shouldn't be labeled as such with my elitist tastes but i'll be damned if i'm gonna ***** about one bad apple since it my spoil it for newbies, please enjoy the music newbies.

Not quite "Still Alive," but I prefer the Bee Gees' "Staying Alive." If that doesn't count then Portal's "still Alive"

Mirror's Edge HAD a Still Alive?

Yeah, that pretty much sums up my feelings on the subject.
How can you play through the game without once hearing the main theme?
wild guess here, but he didn't touch Mirror's Edge, not knowing about the theme tune to a game you play means you have sensory issues.

Both are great in their own respect. Portal's Still Alive is an amazing finish to an amazing game, but to somebody who has never played the game it's just not funny. Musically speaking, it's not as elaborate or difficult as the one in Mirror's Edge, but contextually it's amazing.

The Mirror's Edge one is a beautiful piece of music in my opinion, and it's spawned numerous versions. One great variation that hasn't been mentioned yet here is titled "Edge of Faith", and can be found and downloaded for free from the Newgrounds Audio Portal, here:

Of the two, I prefer the Mirror's Edge song. Portal's was an amusing novelty song, but the Mirror's Edge version has longer-lasting musical appeal to me. I listen to it a fair bit, as well as its remixes. Also, I often set my MP3 player to play it when I'm out running.

I listen to Still Alive almost everyday and I play it on Rock Band so for me Still Alive has gone nowhere and Jonathan Coulton is an awesome musician. I also play/listen Skullcrusher Mountain just as often as Still Alive.

I said the Portal version, yet listening to them both I have to say the Mirror's Edge version is much better. I have a thing for beautiful and haunting melodies, especially in game music, and have to say that the Mirror's Edge version stayed with me for a long time:

I also like this version, the piano version. The amazing thing about it is that it was composed by a fan of the game who never took piano lessons and works without any sort of sheet music. She literally played this off the top of her head:

EDIT: Please let me know what you think of the piano version

Lisa Miskovsky has a voice far superior to Ellen Mcwhatsmyname.

The melody is better, the aesthetic is beautiful, it molds to create an amazing and captivating song.

Coulton's Still Alive(lol) is funny, lighthearted, and as a piece of comedy, hilarious, but as a musical work? Miskovsky wins.

I hate how everyone gives the game Portal credit for the song "Still Alive". It was actually written by a great artist. His name is Jonathon Coulton. He also made the theme song for the popular tv show that aired on G4 "Code Monkeys". He's written a bunch of songs and I give him credit as an artist for making these amazing songs, like "Tom Cruise Crazy" and "Octopus". Love the song "Still Alive" and I loved the game Portal but u should give credit to who wrote the song. Or maybe who sang it. I cant remember her name but i think they actually had the chick that was the voice actor for Glados to sing it(with the voice modifications of course). :/
The song was commissioned and bought for Portal. Saying that Still Alive from Portal is awesome, is fine. Thank god I'm not in the room when someone compliments a movie in front of you. You would have them recite all 3,000 people involved in the production. Chill.
Sorry i tried to bring some intelligence into the room. I should be punished....
Do you even read a post before u quote it and criticize ppl? or is that not how u roll?(that was definately not a fat joke) U missed the whole point of my post and im not retyping it for u to understand...
and as for the movie compliment subject....yea, im pretty glad ur not there too.

Portals "Still Alive" because it lead me to find Jonathan Coulton's (the guy who wrote the song) music. Great stuff.

I doubt Coulton cares if he gets the credit for the song or not (over the internet), as at the end of the day the song is effectively "sung" by a character in the game. Although on The Orange Box OST Coulton has his own version of the song, and even played "Still Alive" using Rock Band at a gig.

I dont care whether or no Coulton cares....I just get peeved at ppl who are totally oblivious.
