The only thing that has ever even slightly phased me was No Russian. That was pretty over the top.

Other than that, I will gleefully kill everything and everyone.

I can't kill animals or kids unless they are trying to harm me first. Other innocents, I can always kill.

Circumstantially based, but in general there is not a limit.

In Halo I find myself taking out platoons of Unggoy while they run screaming for their lives; on occasion walking them down into a choke and crushing their heads while they cower in terror.

Whereas in Fable I'll not even consider aggression towards anyone that is not attacking me; in so far as the situation allows.

In Minecraft I'll not think twice about knocking a sheep off a cliff; as it not only poses the risk of pushing me off, but more so that it is simply a dumb program. Of course, conversely one could argue something similar about biological life to a degree...

And in Starcraft II we'll see a bloody bath of death and carnage on both sides, where a primary goal of mine is to minimize losses on my side; not only in effort to assist in victory, but more that I do not want to see my units needlessly die. When the situation permitted I've gone so far as to transfuse hydralisks.
you know, i always feel kind of bad for the grunts. if was a 4 and a half feet tall monster up against a seven feet metal THING i'd fucking run too

I feel really terrible and disgusted with myself if I kill an animal in a game. It's just how I am, I suppose, but it doesn't help that every game where you have to kill dogs they make the dog do the sad whimper as it dies. I mean come on. Give it an angry snarl or something. It makes me feel fucking evil.

Nothing is inherently wrong.
I would argue that the choice of killing innocents is inherently wrong.

It depends what kind of character I'm roll playing, but if I'm just screwing or their isn't much role playing to be had around I'm fine with killing anything except animal...

Kill.
Kill them all.
ALL OF THEM.
EVERY LAST MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD!
LET THE SEAS RUN RED WITH THEIR BLOOD, AND THE AIR BE FILLED WITH THEIR CRIES!
OH SLAUGHTER, OH CARNAGE, OH SANGUINE BLADE DRIPPING WITH LIFE'S VERY ESSENCE! I LONG TO REVEL IN CHAOS, SUFFERING AND DESPAIR!

LET THE CHILDREN OF KHORNE DRINK TIL THEIR BELLIES BURST, FOR TODAY IS A DAY OF BLOOD!

There's no such thing as "innocence."
50,000 species go extinct every year due to human expansion.

How is an individual human any more or less "innocent" than a locust, or a bacterium, or green-blue algae, or a fieldmouse, or anything else that gets exterminated due to being in plague proportions?

I am a pacifist in most games; I prefer to only attack someone who attacked me first. Even if I knew it would be best if I killed a specific person, I am reluctant when they don't fight me on sight. Unless of course the person is a jerk to me, then I would have fun killing them.

Since it's not reality, I have no problem killing anything. In fact, I wish there were more animals and children and babies in video games (I mean I wish there were ANY!). In the real world, where shit actually counts....I am against violence in just about all forms.

If they irritate me, I kill 'em. I don't just go around killing people, mind you; only if they get in my way or otherwise disturb me. I'd say it takes the least to get me pissed off at children and the most to get me to kill innocent animals.

The line is very fuzzy for me but there are many idividuals I choose not to kill. I just feel it isn't right for them to die. The Raknai (Sp?) Queen for one.

I go by the rule you don't bother me and I won't shoot you. if something tries to kill me I will get rid it. If it doesn't then I leave it alone. Though in Dante's Inferno I refuse to damn the baby demons.

Sometimes I would kill everything just for the hell of it. Depens on my mood or if I'm bored.

I don't kill anyone who's innocent. Kids and people who aren't fighting back. Of course if those kids were zombies I have bullets to spare.

This is the kind of question that bugs me morally. I mean if I were playing a sandbox game like GTAIV and there were suddenly children pedestrians, I would still run them over. It may seem cruel but I have a strict hatred for NPCs and their fixed personas. What it takes for me to actually care for an ingame character's life is that they need to have a convincing personality and emotions. Now you better believe I tried my best to save Shaun in Heavy rain and I was even sad when Jason died. Only the games in which taking someone's life, where there is a clear understanding of the impact a gun could cause, can I cross the line. Not in games like GTAIV where everyone is so passive and unphased to murder.
