I don't really have a problem with killing dogs or innocent by-standers but I could never kill a cat though. That'd just be too horrible.

*shrug* Dependant on mood, character, and game.

But if I'm on a sandbox game in a bad mood...

Locals best take cover, be they man, woman, child, or goomba.

Especially if I have explosives >:3

If they go for me first I don't care who they are they're fair game. I'll leave a hyper-destructive man alone if he does the same for me, but if a kid comes at me with an uzi he's getting more lead in his diet.

I'll kill anyone in a video game.

Not like the pixel police are gonna arrest me, and I'm pretty sure those same pixels have no feelings or families to grieve their loss.

I'll happily remove any NPC who stands in my way. I'll also remove NPCs who are standing off to the side of my way, and possibly even go *out* of my way to do much the same thing.

Especially in inFamous- even as Good Cole, I find myself rampaging against the populace. Of course, bad Cole has that sweet jubilee-grenade thing, so it's generally more fun to be a recognised dick too.

Of course, give the NPC a personality? A name, a job? That's a little harder.

I have no inhibitions beside not attacking things that aren't hostile to me. HOWEVER, I count verbal abuse as hostility, which is why I installed a mod in order to wreak havok upon "Little Lamplight" in Fallout 3. Those bratty little monsters had it coming ><

kill 'em all!

i mean, we're talking about polygons here. and i can differentiate between a virtual video game world and the real world. so no problems there; i can sleep at night after i sent polygons into digital nirwana ^^

EDIT: this is what i meant ^^ :

I can't kill anything because it's a simulation you know.

My code is, if its hostile, kill it for survival, if its evil (like really evil) kill it for the greater good, if any of those things apply I could kill anything, since its all for the greater good, for my survival, survival of my friends, family and etc. I could proberley kill multiple things if I had reason.

(This is real life, btw)
But killing for no reason (Or being evil) is the worst thing to do and if you do that your life is void to me and you might just get shot or killed by me.

(In games) it is much different I still kill for survival and good but If I have to kill to forward the plot, I will.

The character can kill anything for no reason

I however, cannot

But I'm not the one killing, am I?

You just need to find the line between reality and alternate reality (yes I like to think that somewhere every single thing I do happens in an AR)

It depends.

If I'm playing as me, then I can't kill anyone who isn't threatening my life or the life of anyone else, by being alive (usually determined if they point a weapon at me or others).

But in some RPGs (like, ooh...I don't know...KOTOR?), I create "Evil" characters for the purpose of finding out what happen when you make "evil" choices (out of pure curiosity). When a game has more complex choices than "Good Vs. Evil", then I tend to create two separate "evil" characters: 1.Greedy and manipulative (but still sees no reason to cause unnecessary bloodshed, especially innocents), and 2.Murderous bastard (Self-explanatory).

So I put "Cant Kill Innocents" in the poll, because unless I create a character whose purpose it is to kill as many people as possible, I tend to play in a manner where I don't kill people who aren't killing others.

I can't kill someone I care about, simple as that. The special class they may belong to is irrelevant. So, I suppose I'd fit the kill them all group since my criteria can be applied to it all.

If it ever comes to killing children, I'll let Picard speak for me:
