There is no line when it comes to fiction. Absolutely anything goes.

Though dogs have known to stay my blade/trigger finger on occasion.

I voted "kill them all", mainly because I've noticed something odd whilst playing LA Noire. It's an immersive game, but I got thrown out when I realised one thing - no children, no pets. It's strange to go through a world that has been created to be as real as possible, in a game in which you are supposed to act like a police officer (and unlike GTA, can't draw a gun whenever you want) and find it populated by identically-built adult men and occasional women.

As gamers we live in a strange world in which men are dominant, women sometimes turn up, and children are almost non-existent. Whilst that may reflect the stereotypical hopes of the average nerd, it doesn't make for a pleasing game experience. If I'm chasing after bad guys in my 1940s Police Buick and I hit a kid, then criticise me for hitting a kid. Don't anaesthetise me from my bad driving by removing children from reality!

If the game calls for some digital characters to die then there dead but i don't like killing innocent animals or people unless I'm playing an evil character. But if I have a choose I don't. But in some games i just like to kill all the townsfolk.

I don't draw the line anywhere. Fiction is fiction, and as long as it isn't being marketed as a positive role model, that's fine with me.

I don't consider any sort of species to be superior to one another so if one is being killed, any is free game. Even in real life. In particular I find the lack of animal rights to be quite bullshit considering how sacred we consider human life to be, which is just pure arrogance as far as I'm concerned.

Again though, in a video game, it's free game because it's fiction, as long doing these things isn't encouraged as a positive role model.

I especially approve of freedom to do horrible things in Role-Playing games as that's a large part of their purpose is to define a character however you see fit. If that means potentially raping or killing or whatever, that's fine, but the rest of the game world should respond to that appropriately and want to kill said player on sight for what they did and generally treat you like sickening scum.

To reiterate a point I made a loooooong time ago;

If I play a game with killing in it, I kill everything without remorse. It's just a game; it's not real.

However, things with multiple choices or crappy karma meters and whatnot, I tend to go down the good route, depending on what kind of character I decide I'm going to play. I still kill everything, but tastefully so.

Depends on the game, in Postal I can kill handicapped children and their pets without a thought. In Fallout 3 I really wanted to shoot the little fucktard that didnt let me into lamplight (but I couldn't). However if it is an RPG or for whatever reason I'm supposed to care about my character I'll only kill creatures that deserve it (not for being cute, but for being a threat or just extremely annoying).

Usually I draw the line on paper, dont know what you guys are talking about... (badum tsch)

Lame puns aside
I'm always having a hard time killing innocents in game, but beating them senseless is fun (Mass Effect and the reporter as an example)

Games are fiction, they are fake situations. There should be no limitations.
BY what definition children are sacred? Or animals? No one is sacred, everyone one is weak. There should be no limitations. Everyone should be wounded because they can be wounded for real.

But there is poor taste, unnecessary violence and gore, example torture just for the sake of torture is wrong.

I don't kill people if they're useful - merchants, quest givers and the like. I also don't kill anything that clearly won't give any rewards like critters. So I only kill things when there's a clear reward for doing so.

I will kill anyone I want to in a game. I generally play my characters as evil, and when I decide my character is evil I take it to a degree that would make Darth Vader raise an eyebrow (of course not really, most games are quite limited).

Children and pets? Yes, I will kill them. Sometimes just because they're there and I'm rampaging, but often I'll get mad at a certain character and genuinely desire to ruin their lives by taking everything they own and killing their whole family.

If I were to play a good character, that gets more complex as to what good really is and all that.

I think the thing is that when I'm playing a game in which roleplaying is a factor, I will let the character decide, as Inkidu stated. If my character is an evil bastard who would cut the nuts off a dying puppy just to make its owner cry then by god he will do it.

In games like Rockstar's skidmarks or Saints Row 2, well, those aren't real people and who cares if they're dead?

Edit: To qualify, I have actually found a couple games where there were people I wasn't keen on killing. Near the end of KOTOR, when you make the decision to be dark/light and the wookie/twi'lek combo (I believe? Correct me if wrong) rebel against you, I had trouble fighting them. It wasn't the outcome I wanted, but given my character's penchant for mass murder and their principles (puny mortals), it was necessary.

This makes no sense to me. You're making a limitation. That torture must have a purpose.

Kill them all

Not because I'm evil, I would rate myself neutral to good on the evilness scale, but because nothing drops me out of an immersive experience like a child/woman not dying because of their character, unless it actually has an impact on the rest of the story.

I typically leave people alone unless they start giving me a attitude for no apparent reason with no change of disposition in sight. Other than that, im pretty passive.

I dont give Animals special treatment either, i just kill them when i need too.

Very much depends on the game and the circumstances. Killing just for the sake of it seems pointless really. Unless I'm being Chaotic Evil in Baldur's Gate or something.
Even then I doubt I would do it very often.

Where do I draw the line?

Below my nose and just above my upper lip in a sort of wispy moustache fashion.
