I'm all for animal rights. It's just that people like fucking PETA make it look like shit, and it makes my blood boil.

You cant arbitrarily say yes or no.

I don't care if an ant is stepped on. Beyond it's ecological necessity an ant doesn't have the mind to even care if it lives or dies, it simply does so via it's inbuilt reactions. It can't contemplate it's own existence.

However, a dog has it's own existence, it's self aware in that it can think and feel. So torturing it, in my view, is wrong.

Basically, I draw the line at certain animals, but on the whole there are animals which I feel do deserve rights, but certainly not on the same level as a human.

So the poll doesn't work for me, I'm not undecided, I've very much made up my mind, and it's not a yes or a no.

Pets and livestock should be cared for and not abused, yes, but "animal rights" is the most ass-backwards concept in history. Give rights to creatures that can never and will never comprehend them? It's retarded.

Animals have the right to be tasty. Animals also have the right to suitable living conditions, and clean drinking water. Good food, and shelter. They also have the right to be tasty.......

I wish I had the strength to go vegetarian because I believe in everything it stands for, but I also understand that I probably can never actually go through with it. It's a central weakness of my being and a disappointing character flaw.

Watch the film Earthlings if you want to see just how fucked up humans are to animals. But I warn you, be prepared to be thoroughly disgusted and ashamed.

I think that unnecessary suffering needs to be prevented, however, they aren't persons and should never be confused as such.

Humans are predators and need to eat. Meat's an essential part of most human's diets. (Excluding silly vegans. Teasing of course.) But that doesn't mean we should be horribly cruel to them. Animals can feel pain too, have emotions like ours and have needs as well. Just because I eat a cow doesn't mean it should be treated like nothing more than meat. The Native Americans respected animals, why can't everyone else?

I think animals should be treated nicely, nothing should be tortured. But I am higher up in the food chain than a cow so when it's dead, I will enjoy a tasty steak.

I'll say what everyone else has been saying and say that I'm all for treating animals well (I hate factory farming, and putting down a dog because you're tired of him should be illegal), but I'm not a vegetarian and PETA sucks (activism protip: be polite, mature, and rational in discourse. That will get you much further than screaming and dumping blood on people will).

only kill what your going to eat - dont waste a life

the abuse of animals is cruel. But if they are born and raised for no other means than to be meat i think its fine, as long as they kill them quickly.
