Japan. I'm American born, but lived in Japan while studying abroad. Amazing public transit, very safe (my host-family's front door was made of rice paper w/ no lock), very clean (ppl don't litter), food is so much more than just rice and sushi, inexpensive (unlimited use monthly bus pass in Kyoto $45US, and studio apartments about $650-$720 per month w/ utilities)

Tough to say. They all have their various issues and positives.

I think I might have to say America though (And by that I mean the United States, yes I know America is a continent. Two continents actually).
3 if you count Centrual America [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_America], though I think you'd be forgiven if you didn't.
I'm pretty sure Central America is considered part of North America. Or else there would be 8 continents. And that would be crazy.

United Kingdom ... you work and get every benefit (health care etc) from taxation... you don't work and still get every type of benefit from other peoples taxation :D everyone wins

I like living in Germany a lot.
But I don't really have much to compare it to.

Let me just say that the Maltese have an awesome "desert" island and laid back attitude.
I could imagine living there even though I'm more of a winter-person.

So, Germany, Malta, whatever. Definitely an "other"-choice in terms of the poll.

and to be blunt any first world nation is pretty much damn near identical

The bus system in Nara is great...train is still the way to go, granted you don't mind being crammed by hung over salary men sleeping where they stand...Which Nara is where we lived, but I spent alot of time in Kyoto, osaka, and even fuku...only thing about Kyoto that bothered me was the spoiled yakuza kids on their scooters * lol*

down side to the food, is that fruit tends to be pretty expensive compared to other places.

well unless your Japanese don't live in japan

they hate you

also everything in Australia will kill you plus they've had a drought for the past ten years

Americans are fat

England is wet

so come to mongolia!
I want to see that as the Mongolian tourist boards motto by the end of the year!!!

OT Please don't come to Ireland. Our weather is crap. Our Economy is unbelievably doomed (Seriously Iceland stands a better chance then us and their bankrupt). We are one of the most expensive places to visit in the World. We hate tourist's who try the sterotype thing. We have views that some people may find offensive.

For me, It's Norway. There's just no exception. I like fish, I like snow and cold, I like oil and I like Norwegians. Though, my view may be skewed a bit.
Then CANADA is the place for you, we have plenty of fish, snow, cold, oil and Norwegians! Seriously!
Yes, but Canada also has maple trees, beavers, Quebec, quite a lot of crimes, sometimes annoying neighbours to the South AND the West, commercialisation of practically everything and Celine Dion. Thank you, but no.

Were we separated at birth?
Highly unlikely, but possible. Would be quite an awkward moment.

I agree. But my stance is based on the fact that Norway is (one of) the most developed welfare-states in the world. And I happen to like democratic socialism.
Well, that's the only annoying thing about Norway for me. I have pretty strong rightist views, so I think that welfare is bad and socialism isn't a particularly good thing.

Any country in northern Europe. We have a nice system here which has a good balance between socialism and capitalism and libertarianism. The governments actually care for the well being of their citizens and try to increase equality and freedom, although sometimes freedom is undermined by some overly protective laws.
We have some of the best education in the world, along with lowest levels of religiosity and other fundamentalist / ideological things, people in northern Europe are generally pragmatic.

I just want to clear this up.
I wouldn't want to live in Australia only because of the dangerous creatures and stuff. Hell, I live in NZ and we don't even have ONE building about a video game publisher or company but Australia does so a reason to go there BUT. Worlds most dangerous sharks. Worlds most dangerous ants. No offense to Australians.

NZ is a pretty dam fine place to live. Lot of greenery and stuff. Peaceful. But lacks in things that people in the forums have. Movies and games. Australia and NZ? Everything last.
