Hmmm, i'm very picky, I'd give Japan a shot at living at, but i'd need to learn the language which is a pain, and you never know how a place is going to be until you get there. So thats a maybe at best.

Norway/Sweden are awesome clean countries, although rather too hard to get alcohol for my liking (at least in Sweden, i BELIEVE Norway is similar, but i apologise in advance if this is an ignorant statement)

UK is currently being raped harder and harder by it's own government every month (i live here), so i get the impression it's approaching time to abandon a sinking ship.

USA i can't stand, visited there a couple of times, good for shopping, and it's just as well they allow guns as i'd shoot myself if i had to live there.

Oz/NZ are both too hot for me, plus they always get video games last (if ever). I also hate bugs and spiders and while i'm sure man-sized spiders are total exaggerations, hot places in general have more insects which is a no for me.

I'll rule out pretty much every other non-English speaking country as i'm a lazy turd and don't want to learn another language.

Thus Canada seems the only place left, decent health system, kinda the best of both worlds between UK and US. Sure it has a few downers, but where doesn't?

On the note of people refusing to leave places (mainly the US) because they'd miss the music, films, sports etc.... Have you never heard of cable? Or the internet for that matter?

I'm from the UK. It's mostly grey and depressing here. Watch the news and its obvious why.
Canada sounds like a nice place to live. I'll go with there...

Well, people who voted UK must have never been here.

I voted Austraillia, beautiful country, the whole giant man eating spiders stories are over-exaggerated.
always wanted to go to Australia and might now if what you say is true (ei I'm arachnophobia)
Been out in the sticks and all sorts, most threatening spider I saw was a Huntsman and they are ugly motherfuckers but not at all poisnous, saw him at a Koala park. But yea, around the house you're safe as cake. You get far more creepy crawlies in your house in the UK than Austraillia, this is because in the UK it's usually quite cold outside, so they come in to have a sit down by the fire. In Austraillia it's up in the 20s at midnight, so the bugs are happy enough to chill outside.

The sun is far more dangerous than than the wildlife in modern Austraillia, make sure to bring some sun screen.

Hah.. Ya know, Australia is totally not as bug infested as everyone thinks. Sure there are a lot of stuff that will fuck you up but all of those things are waay inland. If you're a tourist then you might as well stick to the east or west coast (come to the east coast and hang out with me) and the most you will see is a few mosquitoes and maybe a spider.. Maybe.

I voted Australia but I would love to see Canada and Japan

Ohh guess what, there are no giant bears in Australia! Take that

Pick Ireland!

Where being drunk is socially acceptable!

And the ugliest guy on the island is the prime minister!

For me, It's Norway. There's just no exception. I like fish, I like snow and cold, I like oil and I like Norwegians. Though, my view may be skewed a bit.
You'd like Canada. Accents aside, you wouldn't really notice a difference.

We're an oily, cold, fishy country full of obsessively polite people.

Personally I'd say somewhere with sunshine, cosmopolitan values, and robust freedom of speech laws. Canada's pretty good on the freedom of speech thing - and our metropolises are pretty cosmopolitian, cultural mosaic and all (though we have some bad history). Some spots in America could fit the bill, but the country's a tad too right wing as a whole for me.

I don't know. If you know of any places that fit the bill, please, tell me.

I think Canada would be the best, it has wonderful scenery, great ski resorts, moose and all the maple syrup you can drink!

This apparently is also a poll saying "did you read the OP?" In which case for many the answer is 'no'.

Anyway, other than my own? Probably Norway as I have relatives there.
