ah now there's a interesting one:
I was playing the nentendo 64 BUT really wasn't a GAMER per say since back then to be a game you had to spend most of your free time gaming with challenging games anyways I had a couple of classics but didn't really get all that into it UNTIL the most unusual person got me into gaming" my granpa, he won a contest hosted by pepsi and got a free PS2 one of the first in canada and gave to me and my brother, a few months later I'm a full blown gametastic gamerific gamer

I had this debate with a buddy recently, thought I'd try a poll. If I'm right, I can throw it in his face. If not, nobody speak of this topic again! Also both is not an option. You have to pick one or the other.
Psone first, 64 shortly after.

N64 myself. I still prefer it, only great games I've found for PS1 were the Resident Evil games, MGS, and FF VII. The 64 had Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Blast Corps, Body Harvest, Mario 64, Doom 64, Turok, 1080, F-Zero X. Mainly it's still my favorite between the two due to Goldeneye and Perfect Dark though, great games and the multiplayer at the time was mind blowing.

N64 for me too. Rush Hour, Super Mario 64, Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 64, Dark Gate... So many lovely games. :3 I never really got around to PlayStation, these days I'm thinking about buying a PSP though... Cos it has Final Fantasy Crisis Core and it's probably the only FF game I actually understand and am able to play the goddamn thing. (I tried FF IX once, I couldn't even make it through the first CD...)

Definately PS1. I owned a N64 and the flagship games years after the GameCube took the sceptre, but sold everything after about six months. Hated the controller, but with Virtual Console and ports, I own the important N64 games on a different platform.
