I know halo isn't very well liked around here, but i for one like halo. Is Halo the best game ever? certainly not, but it was a good game with a solid multiplayer. I'm generally an avid PC gamer (i refuse to you the phrase "hardcore") I still just don't get why people hate it so much.

So do you like or dislike halo? please state why.
To me halo has always had a very epic quality to it which I've never felt from another game, its not the best game ever, but it is definately a 10 out of 10

Why would you "hate" it? It's not that bad of a game (I've been told). I can't say I have played it but if you like it, the opinion of others shouldn't matter. What I do hate is most of its fanbase. I mean the part that says if you don't like it you're a "gheystation 3 sony slave thing". I have nothing against fans, but I if there is one thing I hate, it's these so called "fanboys".

Halo the first was good. It pretty much wrote the book on dual analog control. The second was also good, having the best online multiplayer console game of the time. Three, in my opinion, was not as good as the first two.

I enjoy the gameplay, and the story is deep for those who dig for it.

God dammit not another one of these threads...
Halo is decent in my opinion. Overrated but not horrible.

It's my favorite video game ever, but I'm a kid so what would I know. (I've never tried CoD4, but I would like to try it out.)

I find it very hard to believe that the xbox wouldn't have been without Halo, and what is KOTAR? Do you mean KOTOR? because if you do, both that and Fable were also released for computer, so I think we would have had those too. You're quite the Halo fanboy, aren't you?

Edit: Also, oh man, another of these threads. It's really getting to be that we have to sift through a lot of Halo, Oblivion, Fallout, Religion, and other repeat threads to get to any kind of originality.

I FINALLY played halo 3 after hearing numerous rants about it being sub par, so yay for me I finally have an opinion. I am not much for online play in FPS other than TF2 because it really just can;'t be beat for fun factor, but the campaign mode was really enjoyable! Short of course, and I didn't care about the story line, but everything else was a lot of fun.

to sum up that jarbled mess, I don't hate Halo, but I wouldn't say it was my favourite either.

You are linking the entire existance of the 360 to Halo? Together with KOTOR and fable? I mean sure people like it alot and it has a big fanbase but, seriously? I think I have to stop this now before I get flamed. Flame (shield) on!

The love for it got lost somewhere around the millionth thread about it...
NO... FUCKING... SHIT... Is it possible that all of these Halo threads ALWAYS sprout up because Halo boy-fans (notice how I didn't say "fan boy" like I'm some sort of elitist or something?) are a little confused about the constant criticism (which is probably in part having to do with the constant threads about it/them) it gets, and are trying to convince themselves that they really are having as much fun as they think they are?

I like the game for it's attention to detail, and it's deep involving storyline, I think it has one of the deepest stroylones for a game of its sort

I liked Halo, even though I haven't got it, not any of the series.

But I remember playing Halo 1 and 3 co-op with my cousin and enjoying it. Low gravity jumping, heh.
And playing Halo 2 with my friends on a small, private LAN-party. Fun times as well.

The thing that always intrigued me, was its original style, you know, the whole plasma-thing. The atmosphere wasn't bland or had that "it's been done"-feel which I always get with WW II-shooters...

Single player was absolute crap. It played well for a game that wanted to be an action movie, and certain scenes from every game made me feel like an absolute badass ("Finishing this fight. Sir."). Still, not good enough to warrant being worshipped.

The multi-player, though. I dare you to find another console shooter with the ridiculous number of options available to Halo players. Map creation, the ability to alter physics slightly, the variety of gametypes that are built in, and then those that fans have made? Nothing comes close to Halo. I love it.

I personally never got into Halo series because I played Bungie's Marathon. That's the FPS they made before selling their soul to Microsoft. To me Halo is Marathon dumbed down for the masses. I don't really need to play the games because I've already been down that hallway. So Marathon doesn't have Halo's graphics, so what? Graphics are nice, but what else does Halo bring to the table that Marathon didn't? It's just the same story as System Shock 2 being turned into Bioshock, only we are dealing with trilogies in the case of Bungie's games.

Maybe I'll go play the Halo series if someone can prove I'm missing out, but I doubt that the way this debate rages wherever games are discussed.
