Never been to interested in FPS, so it's a third person choice for me. Merceneries (the original) that game was awesome, mainly due to the fact it didn't take itself too seriously.

Wow, I'm the only one to vote Medal of Honour, how embarassing. Mainly because its the only one I've played enough to make a judgement on.

Gears of War was the first "Next-Gen" shooter for me. It had a campaign that blew me away in co-op, a story that I actually wanted to learn about (but they never fleshed out... still want the novel), and new gameplay mechanics along with its killer graphics.

I also really enjoy Halo for the simple fun it has in co-op in firefight or campaign, as well as multiplayer. CoD4 was cool, not as into MW2 though...

( Sorry I'm not some of the PC gamers I've observed who proclaims their favorite games are better than anyone else's. )

To me, one of the best FPS's is Call of Cthulhu. Sure it had it's flaws (After all it was developed by Bethesda) but it had such an amazing atmosphere and some quite uniqe gamplay elements, like the health system and a really intresting story. Overall, is you havn't played it i would recommend you to do so as you have no idea of what you're missing :D

The best TPS ever IMO was Star Wars: Battlefront 2 so I'm gonna go with the Battlefront series.

I thought I was the only one ;_;

So there are people who appreciate those games still =D

You just improved my hopes for humanity :)
Same here.

There are. By the way it was a pleasure restoring your faith in humanity. Im really strange arent I? My top FPS games are: a story adventure FPS, a hardcore realistic hard FPS, a FPS in the middle and mindles shooting action FPSes.

Of course you are strange! We all are.
Show me one human being that isn't strange or awkward at a given moment and you win a prize.
You made the strangeness awesome though :), something most people can only aspire to.

I just love Serious Sam for not being serious and just blasting away at random legions of enemies with an occasional hard spike, some nice platforming and minor puzzeling part and graphics that say fuck this we are going away from generic.

I wish they would bring out a 3.

Btw, Cannonballing a legion of incoming skeletons for the win.
Dont worry they are making a 3rd game. BTW is Serious Sam HD good? My current PC is too lame for it.
P.S do you remember the soundtrack... I actually have it on a disc, should post on YouTube. Kamikazes, machineguns, Jingle Bells (rock edition)...

Serious Sam HD is okay, it's just as enjoyable with the old graphics though.
I ran it on HD a bit but turned it back to old graphs because the lag would get hard with huge armies rushing in on you from all sides :p
And damn right I remember the song =D

Fuck. I was so tempted to throw Killer 7 out there, and now I can't, as there was only one game.

...Uh... STALKER?

Out of the specified options in the poll, Painkiller is the best of the lot, but I'd have to go with Descent for my favorite FPS series, with Hitman being my favorite 3rd person shooter franchise.

I would say MW, but you said series. And the series has been known to dissapoint(CoD3). I'd have to say old fashion DOom.
