what makes you think that Altair didn't still kick ass in his late 40s? If he wasn't such a kickass assassin, he wouldn't have a statue of himself, and his armors kept safe behind a fence you can't get to unless you do a series of hard task, IN A COOL UNDERGROUND ASSASSIN TEMPLE THING

besides, Altair came up with the new blade designs, no doubt he used them himself, and all the new moves. Ezio is still a student when compared to the master assassin that is Altair

P.S. that's a lot of S's in assassin

Probably Altair simply because he's not as bulky and he's faster. Ezio has more strength, but in this case, I think speed would win the battle.

Well, Ezio has been using a gun and has therefore been using less melee weapons.
So Altair would probably win.

Also, Ezio can't kill Altair without wiping himself from existence because of a time paradox.

there are always people like you that think outside the box...

Who would win in a straight up fight of skill. Such as only using hidden blades or such. Of course Ezio wins if he gets a gun, but not including that who would win, say, a sword-fight or fisticuffs or another straight up match?
Ezio hands down.

He has two blades.

He has corrected jumping physics.

Also, Ezio isn't an ego maniac. Ezio knows that if he screws up, he's toast. Altair thinks he's immortal - he doesn't respect his own mortality.
Altair came up with the idea of stronger hidden blade, dual hidden blade, gun in the blade, and poison in the blade, and he probably used them all himself
They are fighting not racing on rooftops
Actually Altair WAS an ego maniac who thought he was immortal and was above the creed. However, as the game went on, he became humble, respected his fellow assassins and the creed. Also, the codex pages in asscreed2 shows that Altair became VERY wise, and in one of the codex pages, it says Altair discovered a new material that makes sturdier armors and swords

Altair without a doubt, the whole issue with him was he was tooooo good and he knew it. The humility he reached at the end of the game completes the puzzle.

I'd back anyone who grew up trained by a full strength order in the middle of one of the biggest conflicts of the era over a pampered city boy who cobbled together what skills he could from a combination of learning on the job and the training of a few surviving members of an order nearly gone from his country.
