Poll: Which band stereotype is worse?

We all what they are, the certain roles in the band that have stereotypes attached to them. Below are the stereotypes and the roles that are associated with them.

Drummer - Musically illiterate and stupid.

Vocalist - Self-centred, obnoxious, think he/she is what makes the band great.

Guitarist - Hates the rest of the band, dreams of a solo career.

Bassist - Completely expendable, quiet, no-one knows who they are.

Also to add to the discussion, If you play any of these instruments do you fit your stereotype?, Can you think of any famous musicians that fit it perfectly? Or are the complete opposite of it?

definetly the vocalist. Most of them are trying to get others in the spotlight.

unfortunetly, other than mabye Mike Dirnt in green day, Most bass players are quit, verry obscured eg, Cone from sum 41, Mikey may in My Chemical Romance etc.

As a guitarest, I couldnt last 3 seconds on my own.

I've honestly experienced every one of these (not saying they're universally true obviously), save for the bass one. I mean, bass (in the sort of music I play) is much less expendable than the guitar. Of course it's a ***** finding upright bassists. And again with the stuff we play, bass tends to be right up front, everybody knows our bassist because he's the dude swinging that big fucking thing around and riding on it.

Bassist. They do almost as much musical lifting as the drummer, but take twice the shit, because they "can't play". Bullshit. Go listen to Protest the Hero or Rush; then tell me if you think playing bass is easy.

The bass is actually THE most important instrument in any band.
So ha.

Also, Slash and Axel Rose from Guns n' Roses.

Drums; Musically illiterate? You mean notes 'n' stuff? If not, drums are what carries the band, and without a musically talented drummer, it is destined to fail.

Vocalist; Well that seems to fit well on many (known) bands.

Lol @ guitarist xP

Bassist; Also fits well with many (again, known) bands.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't answer the question. I vote Vocalist.

Not completley. The Singer from Slayer is also the Bassist. He's a noisy git.
I think Testaments singers also bassist.
And Swashbuckles singer too is also the bassist.I could be wrong.

They're all wrong anway.Joey Jordison is the principle writer of Slipknots Music(make of that what you wish)

As for Vocalist and Guitarist? Meh,theyre the diva roles in a band anyway.

But to properly answer the question..My least favourite stereotype is that of the drummers and i can't really think of a huge amount of people that fit into their own catagories.

Oh wait!

Axl Rose.

It CAN be to a degree. In metal (especially the extremer stuff), most bands make bass completely inaudible. To make matters worse, bass usually follows the guitar or plays riffs so easy somebody could play it without ever having touched a guitar in their life. I'm sick of this really. :<

I would agree with this, in my opinion, you could make a band with just a bass and drums, anything else is just extras.

Bass players. Listen to something like the epicness of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb, or the sheer awesomeness of Hysteria by Muse, then tell me a Bass Player is a nobody. vastly underrated

Definitely Bass. If something goes wrong or someone screws up, it's always the bass player's fault, even though the bass is the most important instrument in any band.

Those are all pretty bad. I personally know some drummers and that's not easy shit.
Not even close.

I'm a vocalist/ guitar player (I'm not that great at guitar) since I'm not in a band I can't really say for sure but i have a lot of respect for other musicians. Vocals are the easiest to replace and the least necessary.

Drummer. Everyone acts like they are a dime a dozen. But they actually have a much bigger part than people give them credit. My uncle is a musician, and he has said that it is usually the drummer that keeps the pace for the rest of the band. Everyone is listening to the drummer to stay in rythem.

I picked bass, although the singing one is second to that.

I just hate people that don't give bassists the respect they deserve, mostly due to the fact that some don't deserve it. Some will only play dumbed down guitar parts, which just makes people think the bass is the easy instrument to learn.

The Killers even have good bass lines. Cmon everybody else. Don't the the Killers beat you. (I like the Killers, I just like to make fun of them)

Yeah, anybody who's never been in a band acts like they're a dime a dozen. Seriously, drummers are hard to come by!
