Have you ever noticed how much the joker is featured in batman media.
Hes great, he can do anything the writer wants him to so hes very versatile. He had mark hamills great voice give him life which only added to his charisma. Hes also featured in more books and gets may all to himself.
but this leads to him really overshadowing batmans other enemies, who are great but they never get the spotlight joker does or get stories where they cause most damage to the dark knight. Killing(sort of) a robin, handicapping batgirl, causing trauma to many, it seems they always use joker when it comes to things like that and theres supposedly worse in the next comic featuring him
The most anyone has done next to joker is break batmans back(bane) and well he got better.

So I ask you what villain needs a story in which they step up and what would you want them to do?

I always liked the riddler character.

But I suppose a relatively physically weak braniac wasn't that enticing in the latest batman movies :/

Scarecrow remains my single favorite comic book villain. Using people's fears against them? I'd like to see more of that, especially if it involved him exploring a few phobias.

I'm voting the Scarecrow only for the Blackest Night event. I mean he was made into a temporary Sinestro lantern and he no longer good the ring afterward (well ok it got stolen by crazed Orange Lantern Luthor). I don't get why isn't he a Sinestro Lantern already? Ok granted a ring did went for him and got capture by Hal but why not another ring?
With that most of a power boost he will be even more of a formindable for to Batman.

I'm happy that Jason Todd's Red Hood got its own little series in the New 52, but with the exception of the animated movie, not many comics have really touched on the tragic relationship between Wayne and Todd.
Riddler has had his fair share of the limelight, at least in the The Last Halloween and Hush storylines, I think. Though it doesn't help that most writers don't really know what to do with him. Many people do seem to treat him as a poor man's Joker.

I'm surprised some voted for Harley Quinn. I thought Mad Love did a fantastic job for her character, and she's been getting a lot of the spotlight from Rocksteady's end.

Anyway, I second Clayface.

1. There are some huge Harley fans.

2. I voted for Freeze, largely because he's among the few characters that is capable of being both physically and mentally superior to Batman. It makes for an interesting dynamic when played well, and it hasn't been played well very often. Also, I love what the Animated Series did with him, along with everything else about that show.

I'd say none, really...Batman villain's shouldn't be long recurring characters.

You can't run around committing crimes in the US openly like that without getting offed by a sniper.

Now, I guess someone like the penguin who doesn't do much obviously illegal himself, and is rich and powerful within legitimate society could get away with it.

Arkham City did the Riddler really well. Uses his intellect to kidnap and take hostages of the only humanitarian relief for the prison city, then puts them in elaborate death traps (has a good contractor, apparently) to taunt Batman. Shows how he's mostly in the game to prove himself better than anyone, and how it's led him further and further into being a sociopath. Noticeably unkempt and lacking basic grooming/hygiene when you eventually confront him.

I loved reading the comics where he was reformed for a little while, I wish DC had kept him that way, he was probably one of my favorite heroes for a while.

The Mad Hatter. Would want to see more of him. Preferably without the peadophilia traits.

I think it is more of a writer´s engineering problem, so to speak. Writing a character who is meant to be so dang smart that he makes geniuses look retarded is no small task.

Hells yeah, Calender-man is kick-ass. We need way more of him. I mean, has anyone read The Long Halloween (one of the best Batman stories ever, btw)? That book made me love the hell out of the guy. Fantastic, under-rated villain.

I dunno, people like Rupert Murdoch, Scooter Libby and George W. Bush seem to manage.

I would love to see Harley Quinn in a Batman movie, that would be awesome.

Yes it would mean more Joker, but the interaction between the two would be cool to see in a movie and not just in the games and the animated series.

I feel like the biggest problem with a riddler in nolans batman is that I don't really get the impression that nolans bruce wayne is actually all that smart. Like yeah he's bright, but he's nowhere near genius level.
He has lucius fox doing most of the smarts stuff, so any conflict involving riddler I feel would be much more of a riddler VS lucius fox (assisted by batman) than riddler VS batman.

I've always had a soft spot for Hush. The similarities and contrasts between his and Batman's lives are interesting and could be a nice conflict between them. I also like Bane from the comics. But the new movie's Bane is nothing like comics Bane. I would also like to see Deathstroke the Terminator, aka Slade Wilson, in a movie. Although now he's more closely associated with the Teen Titans. They should make a Teen Titans movie.

You know, there's alot of them, but...I think the Clock King needs a little more. The man is as capable a villain as many on the list while operating on little more than being obsessive-compulsive and time-related themes.
