Honestly I enjoy seeing new Batman villains, like the recent Talons and Dr Hurt. The only problem I have is when a writer has to make their new villains "badass" by beating an older one, usually the Joker. It worked in Red Hood as it was revenge, but not so much in Hush.

What I liked about Batman RIP was that Dr Hurt a man who may or may not have been the devil (actually an ancestor of Bruce Wayne made immortal by a Monitor corruped by Darkseid), completely underestimated the Joker.

the one and only answer is

Victor Zsasz

The mans basically an anti-batman, he is frequently shown to be as smart and physically skilled as batman is, but with a compulsive urge to kill indiscriminately.
Zsasz lives only to kill, he has no preferred method of operation, he strikes at random.
If written well, a story about the worlds greatest detective against a completely unpredictable serial killer could be amazing.

Aside from Zsasz i would say The Riddler as long as he isnt played off as a poor mans joker. (Joker wants to cause pure anarchy, Ridder wants to prove himself smarter then batman)

Mr. Freeze, from the tv show where he is sympathetic, has always been one of my favourite characters in the Batman universe. I also love Harley Quinn since she's a very entertaining character. It was brilliant when she teamed up with Poison Ivy. So yeah, Quinn and Freeze are brilliant!

Why are the villains grouped together? I wanted to vote for Scarecrow, but in doing that I also voted for the Riddler, which was not my intention. Nolan's movies didn't treat Crane right. Hopefully the Dark Knight Rises will improve upon this.

I'm still amazed that the makers of arkham city haven't picked up on the idea of using Calendar man for quick holiday based events/DLC. Or better still a "Long hallowe'en" style DLC where he disappears and keeps reappearing on holidays. They could release it as very low priced events on each holiday... Instead they leave him in his cell not actually doing anything but commenting on the days of the year, which is pretty boring.

The Riddler I'd say. He has all the hallmarks of a serial killer who wants to be caught. A dark murder-thriller would be really easy to write with him as the villain.

That would fit the new gritty Batman very well.
Agreed. The Riddler would make for an interesting Batman film if done correctly. More in the style of the detective comics rather than the normal superhero batman. It would be a fresh take because none of the films have ever shown the detective aspect of batman before, and it could be very interestingly done as a serial killer thriller. Maybe even have Batman be peripheral to it and have a bright but otherwise ordinary Gotham cop trying to figure out what's going on...

Harley Quinn, and I shall give her all of my love!

I love her, I don't think I've ever felt such affection towards a character before. I would say a lot of women know exactly how she feels so I think she's more popular with the ladies.

I've always quite like The Scarecrow (I'm also a fan of Cillian Murphy), his Arkham City/Asylum parts were so trippy.
I even felt a bit sympathetic towards him when I read his story in Mad Love and Other Stories.

I enjoyed The Riddler in Arkham City too. I think it'd be great if he had a few off-screen cameos in a future movie with riddles which would result in the deaths of civilians if answered incorrectly~ like in the game. And Wally Wingert can voice him because his voice is fabulous.

Clayface. I've yet to see a comic with a great story involving Clayface.
True! I was seriously impressed with Snyder's recent Batman Annual featuring Mr. Freeze and Gregg Hurwitz is undoubtedly going to do wonders with Scarecrow so let's get some more love for Clayface next!

However, I'm hoping the current Bat-writers are going to keep bringing in new villains, taking advantage of the reboot and being as inventive and creative as they see fit.

...Patrick Stewart.
I fully agree with what you said there, or how about Liam Neeson (Yes he did a good Ras Al Gul, but 'come on...)
Now, I love me some Liam Neeson, but Patrick Stewart is also capable of delivering a solid, multilayered emotional performance, which is what you need with Mr. Freeze.

Victor's angry, but more to the point, he's bitter and in pain. Cryogenically preserving his wife may have saved her life and perhaps also given her a longevity comparable to that which Victor's condition bestowed upon him, but her constant proximity is an open wound in his psyche. She's always so close to him, but they can never be together like this, perhaps never again even if he cures her. Frustration at his lot in life, envy of what others possess which he no longer has, the maddening promise of what he's so close to reclaiming, and the desperation of a man in love willing to do whatever it takes for his beloved, all of these need to be given their due time without keeping them separate from the man himself, and the character of Victor Fries deserves better representation than a veritable blizzard of terrible ice and snow puns delivered from someone who couldn't pass for a scientist on his best day.

And on a more practical note, Stewart's already bald.

I chose Jason Todd and Other. Apparently JT is somewhat under-utilized as a real threat to Batman. He knows just about everything there is to know about Bruce after all; like Hugo Strange only with a more intimate knowledge of Batman's fighting style.

As for Other, Man-Bat. I forgot about the Man-Bat until I saw this post to be honest. I'm sure there are a ton of interesting stories waiting to be told based on the Man-Bat.

I'm happy that Jason Todd's Red Hood got its own little series in the New 52, but with the exception of the animated movie, not many comics have really touched on the tragic relationship between Wayne and Todd.
Yeah, We need to have one definitive ending story to the Todd Wayne relationship, either making everything okay or resulting in one of them dying.

They all need some more love, perhaps at the expense of Batman and the Hamill-less joker.

The Riddler or Ras Al Gul, they are both iconic villains but seemed to be underplayed and under used in almost everything outside the comics and the 90's animated show, same with Mr Freeze.
