I DON'T SEE TEAM FORTRESS 2 ON THIS LIST! Well, essentially, here are my opinion on these games.
Halo 3 I enjoy playing with my friends who have yet to realize the wonders of PC gaming. I have fun playing it and I enjoy whacking the duckshit out of people with the gravity hammer. I've developed a bit of an aversion to it, mainly because I can't stand the fact that people will say "Spartan Laser" or "Gravity Hammer" but not "Battle Rifle". I hate the acronym BR with a passion, though I'm not exactly sure why.
Gear of War is fun when I'm pissed off and enjoy the idea of running around with a testosterone-powered chainsaw and a soul patch. It is without any doubt a fun game, but still feels kind of generic like Halo.
Call of Duty I have little opinion on, as I haven't played it much, but in general it does seem to be well-made and fun to play. Too bad I have to play it with the XBL community.

Indeed, serious multiplayer gaming arises on my part only for TF2. No game is more fun online.

I voted for CoD. I've got Halo 1-3 and 3 was the only one I really liked... Even at that, I just stopped playing it after about 2 months.

I didn't really *get* Gears. I thought it was very samey; boring weapons (aside from the chainsaw, of course), dull level design both aesthetically and structurally, fairly uninspired enemy design... But ooh, it introduced a cover system which has ruined several games since. Awesome.

I've only played CoD4, but I think it's great in both single and multiplayer.

CoD4 is just too good IMHO the "all ghillied up" mission was awesome.
halo i dont mind but i cannot stand gears of war *ducks bricks* its just one big macho trip, they might aswel beat the locusts to death with their huge dicks instead. I also think the game has the depth of a kiddie pool "theres the baddies kill em" or "sorry u blew up half the earth but u missed one".

Gears, because I enjoy mindless gore and violence.
Call of Duty is good, but see above.
HALO wasn't much good in the first place.

I like Half Life 2. And TF2. They might not be perfect, but I like 'em.

... of course, vehicles could add some extra fun to TF2.
Half Life 2 is about as close to perfect as it gets!

As for the other three, yeah they're all good but Halo feels clunky compared to cod4.

I'm going to pick all of the above, but it'll just be for Halo and Gears of War. I've never played Call of Duty (I just don't like that style of game). Gears of War for the campaign and Halo for the multi-player.

I voted all three even though the only time I really enjoy Halo now-a-days is when we do a lan. We get about 10-14 of us together once a month and duel it out in my buds basement with 6 plasmas.

But GoW and CoD I play on live all the time

Easy, everyones going to vote for CoD4, because it's latest best installment came out on PC as well. While Gears 2 and Halo 3 have yet to come out on the PC. And seen as this site, like all the others before it seems to be on a PC...I wonder what game will be picked :p

Overall I find that Call of Duty, especially the Infinity Ward titles, present the best first person shooter experience NOT brought to us by Valve.

Halo is colorful, super fun Space Opera/Military Sci Fi. It's a little simplistic but it's still very enjoyable and there are some good moments.

Gears of War plays amazingly, but has a plot that feels like a B-Movie gone bad. Also, I really hate the characters.

Keep in mind that I haven't touched the multiplayer on any of these, strictly Single Player for me.
