Adults.
As in those who understand that it is just a game or if they do take it seriously have to good manners to lose graciously.

Are there actually people who play only one type of game religiously? Besides the people who exclusively play Microsoft Flight Simulator or Manager games, I've never met any. Most gamers tend to have a broader interest, so I think the question is a little pointless.
ok, disclaimer time. I just want to know who you all think is more polite. i know that they mix and match. i just want to know-in general-who you think are nicest. if you want to elaborate on your point, fine. but enough people have said that people dont always play games exclusively or that things vary. i know that things vary. its a poll. i cant make it that exact.

I think of RPG gamers as being the most pleasant. Pretty much all MMO players that I've ever met have been assholes.

None of the above?

Strategy gamers tend to have the nicest, most thoughtful communities. Mamorpager communities are usually trite and you'd think spewing forum bile was an I win button.

Console gamers tend to have a case of angry tunnel vision, pc gamers think they are god's gift to christ, single and multi player only folks span all systems console and pc and generas, shooter gamers tend to be not accepting of other generas, and classic gamers, like me, use stereotypes liberally and make up facts to support our own goals and positions. We also don't like new games because they have pretty graphics and have soundtracks not limited to midi.

Pleasent, eh? Well I thought simple game play platformers like Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter. BTW simple dosent mean stupit, I mean it like theres no game play twists.

People online are nice to you, and don't swear you out if you don't make a headshot. If you make a mistake, they understand.

NOW, mmorpg peoples, will haunt you.
you Do something they don't like and they explode on you.
I disagree, ppl on CoD4 who have enough brain power to say somthing other than "HEY FAG" or "BOOM HEAD SHOT" or "lolloloooloolollololoolololololl" all hate me mabye bacause I use better insults than them, and let me tell ya the worst one are the ones who can play better than you.

I don't like these generalizations, every classification has good games and bad games and every classification has some very pleasant fans and some very annoying fans. we just tent to pay more attention to the annoying ones because they are better at attracting attention

I'm not sure, but I get the impression that any competitive gamer is a rude gamer.

Many get obsessed with the idea of being better and end up being impolite in order to maintain superiority.

Single-player gamers compete against the computer and it's very different from competing against other people (that scream and curse).

I personally hate presumptuous gamers who think they know everything (and usually know nothing).

Interesting topic, though, this could make a nice research/study.

True. But I'm guessing this poll is based on the majority.

Exceptions will always exist.

From my experience, the people that can appreciate a good RPG (Planescape: Torment being the height of incredible RPGs in my book) are the kind that I can have a deep and interesting conversation with. EDIT: Ergo, the nicest / most personable / able to actually talk without being distracted by shiny things every 5 seconds.

I said singleplayer only, and I'd further distill that down to obscure gamers. We're quite aware that nobody's going to know what the hell we're talking about mentioning games like Victoria, Patrician, and Capitalism, so we can keep a respectful distance from fanboy arguments.

There is a few problems with the question. For starters multi and single player can apply to any genre, then few gamers keep to one genre only, and even if they did you would need extreme generalizations to say which one is "nicest"

i find the less well known/mainstream fps gamers and those who play shooters that require a working brain are generally nice people.

for example, i play loads of C:DO, and the gamers on that spend less time yelling about n00bs, hackers and team killers, and more time telling you that theres a mine round the corner, or that there are a load of guys coming the other way.

MMORPG/RPG players are more my type, mostly because those are the genres I enjoy the most. Unless they're rabid and psychotic. There are gamers of those types in every genre, so I don't think its fair to judge an entire genre's fanbase based on those people.

Being the self-righteous and jingoistic PC gamer I am, I tend to scoff at shooter discussions, mostly because, while I know there's more to it, it just seems so shallow to me. That's just my opinion though, and this is someone who's been raised on the Ultima series and Dungeons and Dragons, and similarly nerdy prospects.

Sorry to offend some, but those people who picked shooters and Multi-player only are retards, need I explain?

Oh and yeah I chose RPG players; the fantasy-ical (Well done me for creating that) settings just mellow us out.
