I think you'd have a difficult time arguing that PSN is better at the moment...

XBL has a bad community however so my vote lies with PC.

PSN is the best for me because it's free. I barely ever go online, but I still want the option, and if it wasn't free, I'd just flat-out not be able to use it because I wouldn't be willing to pay, thus closing off possible avenues of play and exploration for me. So, while the XBL may be the overall better service, PSN is simply the better deal for someone who isn't heavily into online gaming.

Well, if I'm allowed to say something else.
PC, its free and has a better community.

Now I shall gallop away on my high-horse.
I use Xbox 360 a lot more than PC since I prefer consoles to PC gaming, but he's pretty much right here. As is everyone else here who scaled their high-altitude equestrians and said "PC"

Console-wise, though, I much prefr Xbox-360's online setup and community (if only marginally on the community's part)

i have both xbox 360 and ps3 along with most of my friends,
and i can easily say 360 is more fun.
PS3 online is slow, Glichy, and for the most part not enjoyable to play with strangers.
360 just seems to me to have a much smoother online, interface, and better community.
360 is easily worth the money i pay each year.

That's a nice community you got there, bro.
ummm... what? are you implying that the 360s entire comunity are little kids,
while PS3 has no problem with that?
if so you are sadly mistaken, both PS3 and 360 have equal amounts of kids,
but i could care less.
there is an easy to use mute button, maybe you could try that...
I was reading that, and I was thinking, "Okay, fair enough, not ALL of xbox live is comprised of little screaming retards."

But then you wrote that the two consoles have equal amounts, which is absolutely false. Xbox360 has considerably more of the little twats than the ps3.

where's the PC choice? No features you have to pay for, the best built in web browser, no matchmaking, obviously the best choice is a Personal Computer installed with Steam and Firefox (or Chrome).

i don't seem to find a difference in the amount of kids towards each console.
both seem the exact same to me, i do play both PS3 and XBOX360 quite a lot.
maybe im just unlucky on PS3 and lucky on the 360.
IDK, either way it doesn't bother me, its why i love the mute button.

360 has a better online simply because you pay for what you get, there are admins and moderation, and I've found that the 360 runs faster while online.

Though, 360 does have a horrible community.

PC servers are usually best, but if I had to pick between the two I'd go with Xbox LIVE. Not because they have anything special to offer, but it does have two things going for it:

1. More communication with friends.

2. It hasn't been crippled by hackers.

I guess we are talking about online, but when your internet/multiplayerthingy is down I (Think?) that you aren't able to even play single-player while you wait.

I do not know though, call me out if I am wrong.

Since PS3 is free, I'm going to say PS3. No need to pay for something I don't need to pay for. PSN works very well for the price you pay for it.

Computers have the best. Servers and their communities/mods, the ease with which admins can boot morons etc just makes it win.

Of the two listed, I prefer psn, other than sony not bothering with adequate security I've had no issues, whereas xbox live couldn't decide whether to dump me in US or UK games, which as an Australian is a royal pain in the ass....Lot's of people claim the xbox live service performs better, that certainly isn't my experience.

Or we could use opera/flock/safari/ie (ok fine, the only real competing browser is opera, but I mean to highlight the choice) and if you hate sluggish DRM there are plenty of non steam/secROM/ubisoft/etc games to play-If you hate the Sony/Microsoft drm on their systems then balls to you. Optional matchmaking (if you want it, through competitions and some game clients) and so on. Computers are in a completely different league, hence explicit invitation to compare them.

lets look at it this way, PSN has less annoying twats because the headsets cos a fooking bomb 50 quid for a standard headset is ridiculous and if you don't like hearing some dumbass kid mute them nobody forces you to listen to them, or party up solve everything.

And MS don't hand out bans for the slightest thing you are paying for a service so you gotta break the code of conduct you agreed to when you sign up to XBL for a ban/suspension to happen.

the PSN is free to a point but its expensive to buy stuff for and theres PSN+ but it's not that expensive but i prefer the online of XBL simply down to it's ease of use and the user interface.

The playstation just looks and feels out dated i have the same interface as my blu ray player it's just not very imaginative, Compare the PS to the XB dashboards the XB just feels more inviting like it wants you to play it.

Put it this way they both do the same thing but do certain things better then the other. If i wanted to watch a film or play some single player then i go playstation if i want a good online game then i got xbox simple as however the xbox does single player just aswell as PS.

This whole argument is about the cost of XBL that is the only argument for the playstations online and honestly thats it. Yes its free but free is always good. xbox is pricey but you get what you pay for outta it in the long run.

*** WHATS WITH THE PS UPDATES hang on while i waste 3 hours of my day waiting for my console to do an update but thats just a pet peeve

I own and prefer my PS3 at the moment and I STILL think 360's online is better, saying that, that doesn't mean PSN is bad (when its not being attacked by hackers ¬_¬), the very fact it is free and gives you a degree of flexibility makes it a superb competitor, its just that 360 has that edge. There are still things PSN still hasn't got to make it more of a threat to Live.

I decided to choose 360, despite my avatar. It's superior in my opinion because of the increased security for reasons which are explained much better by GeoHot than me.
Off-topic but the timing of this thread, I suspect, is more than just a coincidence.
