Fatal Frame.

Seriously, Condemned was pretty good, Dead Space relied entirely on gross-out and jump scares as a crutch, and F.E.A.R... was okay. But Fatal Frame will haunt your dreams for the rest of your frightened existence.

Out of that list I'd go with Condemned. I haven't played Dead Space, but found F.E.A.R was just a mildly startling FPS with above average AI (sort of...).

I still get chills when I remember the clothes store / mall in Condemned D:

Condemned, though frustrating at times, is probably the best suited to be called horror. Fear, in the hour or so I could tolerate it, was a pretty standard FPS with a hallucenating protagonist if memory serves. Dead Space was more intent on using jump-out scares than genuine creepiness and limited visibility as seen (and not) in condemned.

None of them.

If you're looking for good horror games that a few people can play, just get either of the Left4Dead series...

If it's single player: GET ALAN WAKE

Condemned.

It's freaking intense.

You're contstant on edge.

Dead Space is the kind of game where "dead enemy is really alive" becomes normal very quickly, making even the cheap startle scares fail to impress. And FEAR isn't scary...just full of awesome gunplay.

Depends entirely on your definition of horror.

It's definitely horror if you're playing it in the middle of the night with the lights off and you have someone walk up behind you and grab your shoulder.

I guess so, I'm just saying if they're looking to actually get a good scare I'd pick something else than L4D.

Of those, Condemned.

But seriously, go get yourself a copy of either Alan Wake or Penumbra: Overture and Penumbra: Black Plague.

Both are far better than any of those games (I personally wouldn't even call Dead Space horror.)

Out of the games listed I'd go with Condemned.

Personally I'd go with Fatal Frame, Silent Hill 1-3 for a real scare-fest but someone made an excellent point about movies. If a few friends are round you're probably better off getting some decent movies and watching them because only one person can play at a time.

I read his post, but none of the three of them are worth a damn in the scary department.

Then again, if you are playing horror with friends, you aren't looking for real psychological horror.

The point of the thread was to see which game he should play OUT OF the games he had.
