I do not mean to spark any form of skirmish between Xbox fans and PS3 Fans. As far as I'm concerning, I like both. Both have good games except I, personally (Not speaking on behalf of the internet), find the PS3 Controller uncomfortable.

Why not share your thoughts?
In my personal experience, I've found the more compact nature of the PS3 controller to be more comfortable. The Xbox felt very unwieldy in my hands and I felt the trigger buttons to be badly placed and ergonomically incompatible with how my hands worked. But I do have quite small hands for a guy, so maybe I'm not meant for the beefy, cheeto-eating, manly Xbox controllers.
This could be the issue. The Japanese are a smaller people AND they treat videogames as more of a kids toy. So even an average American hand is probably too big for the PS controller. I don't consider my hands that big but I know I don't like those 24 3/4 scale length Les Pauls. My guitars need to be at least 25.5, and I also like six string basseseseses.

Although I don't do much console gaming anymore. I think the Xbox controller is an abomination. I don't know how anyone can use it. It makes a terrible use of space. It is far larger than it needs to be, considering how many buttons it has.
I guess if the primary user of an Xbox controller was a gorilla, it'd be okay.

I prefer the Xbox controllers layout, but like that the PS3s controller is very light. so it's a 50/50

Dualshock 3 every time, I even use it with my PC... ..for when I'm driving since that's the only time a mouse and keyboard aren't the best choice.

Bar the triggers, the shape of those is pants.

Xbox Controller.

The PS3's controller is too... touchy. The triggers pull at the twitch of the finger, the analog sticks are kinda stiff, and the way the d-pad is set is awkward.

The Xbox's is more combfortable, it's more girthy, the bumpers have a distinct click, the sticks slide evenly, and the triggers have just enough resistance to shrug off accidental pulls.

the ps3 controller feels flimsy. im afraid to drop it or set it down too hard, because i worry it'll explode or something, and the triggers are basically sponges not fit for shooters.

the xbox 360 controller has easy to break bumpers and a d-pad that was seemingly designed by satan.

so i guess its more in the eye of the beholder, rather than an objective thing.

I don't have a PS3 so I guess I'll just have to be biased and say the Xbox 360.

My hands aren't really that big, and it fits perfectly in my hands. I mean, I guess if you're very young or have tiny girl hands, the 360 pad is probably a little on the large side, but to me it's perfect. My only dislike of the 360 pad is the giant battery pack on the back of the wireless rechargeable models. I used to wrap my fingers underneath the controller for leverage/support, but this giant brick of battery gets in the way now.

The PS3 controller is small and blocky, it's not very comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. Plus you have to stretch your thumbs unnaturally to get to the joysticks, which is bad design in this age of 3D joystick-controlled games.

I have one of the newer generation 360 controllers on which the D-pad can be selected to be more like the PS3 D-Pad. The only thing the PS3 controller has over the 360 controller, to me anyway, is the better grip surfaced thumb sticks.

This controller does address the grip surface on the thumb sticks, however, by having a concaving (might be convex though, you can see in the picture) surface area.

You shouldn't be playing video games while you're driving!

I love the 360 but as many have said before, the D-Pad on the PS3 is far better. I liked the motion controls in the PS3 too.

The PS3 has the 2nd best D-pad ever (the first still belongs to Nintendo... I wonder if their patent on the cross-shaped rocker has expired yet), but for layout and just about everything else, the 360 controller is one of the best I've ever used. The main stick is in a position that makes sense, and the triggers are much more responsive.

I find the 360 controller more comfortable. For me it's got the Dualshock 3 beat in everything but the D-Pad. The 360 D-Pad is pretty awful. I can't believe I used to play BlazBlue on that thing.

I like the Xbox controllers overall feel, and the triggers are certainly better than the 'marshmallow buttons'. However I prefer the left thumb stick in the PS3 position. Also, PS3 buttons feel a bit better to me, as well as the D-Pad.

To begin with I'd like point out I don't use a controller for shooters, I have a joystick for flight, a wheel for driving and I don't play fighting games. That leaves soccer games, platformers and brawlers that I do play with controllers. I much prefer the dual shock design for these games...to be fair I just find the Xbox controller a little awkward in general.

The PS3 pad was never intended to have analog sticks, and even in its all digital days on the PS1 it still wasn't designed to be comfortable, but rather to "look cool."

Sorry, but I've grown outta that "look cool" shit, and a complete controller redesign is the only thing that could bring me back to Sony. The 360 controller is like a Tempur-Pedic bed for your hands.
Games > Controllers.

The idea that a controller redesign is in the way of you buying Sony consoles is pathetic.

A matter of preference as well as familiarity. The PS controllers always had a constant, but comfortable design over all its console incarnations.
