The original 1970s Dawn of the Dead is so far my favorite, although I have yet to see the original Day of the Dead (although I've seen the remake and it's HORRIBLE).
O.O

you are missing the famous bub! the original day of the dead is more about tensions (human and human or scientist vs military) and also there is a higher budget which means sweet heavenly gore and better sound effects since Day of the Dead
I know. :'(

The problem is that I don't BUY movies, and I can't find a place that rents it. I also don't have a netflix account, because I have about 50 cable movie channels.
*cough*

"file shareing websites" are the way to go then......im not suggesting in any way to break the law :)

Of the ones I've seen 28 days later, but you MUST GET EVIL DEAD 2. THAT FILM IS A MASTERPIECE!

28 days and 28 weeks are completely different. namely because 28 days was shit compared to the golden divinity of 28 weeks.

Out of that list I really love Day of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead (even the 199X remake) and both versions of Dawn of the Dead. Romero ftw. Return of the HOLY SHIT I SEE SID HAIG 3D was good because of Sid Haig. There's another good one about survivors hiding in a electric facility or something which was pretty good.

OH and the unholy shit stain in zombie movie history is this shitty Canadian "film" called Zombie Night. It makes me want to rip out my eyes and plug my ears with them.

Both dawn and diary of the dead were fantastic, and I loved the 28 days/weeks movies, those 4 I still have on my harddrive and watch on occasion.

I should hit you for saying that, whether comedic or not, it was a great zombie movie.

Land of the Dead. I enjoyed the "once they where wild but now they're meh" parts. Then the meat goldmine was found.

It's the only movie with zombie fish that a farmer was punching as they jumped out of the water, try and beat that. Also the farmer was expert martial artist.

I think you're confusing the two. 28 Days Later was easily the best of the two. 28 Weeks was just retarded...truly a movie for Ritalin-popping ADD kids who can't wait for good pacing and just want a bloody gore fest.

You specified 'no funny ones' and then you included Dead Alive in the options? Whaaat? Also the name of the movie is Braindead, silly Yank you!

On my top list it's definitely the remake of Dawn of the Dead followed closely by 28 Weeks Later. They're both freakin balls-to-the-wall intense. Also I recommend British series Dead Set and Norwegian favorite Dead Snow, otherwise known as Død Snø.

28 Days Later was a great zombie movie. And I may have been over 18 when I saw it the first time, it still scared the living daylights out of me. Haven't seen all of the movies on your list, but if I have to pick, I pick 28 Days Later. (28 Weeks Later, however... was a different story, definitely sub-par compared to its predecessor)

Has to be 28 days later, it was a remarkable piece of work that played more like a serious drama than a straight up horror and truthfully was fun to behold on almost every level.
It had charm one minute and then had you on the edge of your seat in fear the next, that's my idea of a good zombie flick.
