It's obviously the N word. ****** is offensive because it has the old slavery connotations, and hence is offensive (although that's being degraded by black people calling each other it anyway.)

**** is offensive because... Well because we arbitrarily designated it as being such. If I call someone a vagina or a ****, I am still saying the same thing, in a slightly different way, and we just decided the latter is a more vulgar term.

It's the same thing with "polite" swearing. For instance, using "fudge" as an alternative to fuck. We all know what we really mean is fuck, so what's the difference?

I gathered the N-word is ******, but what an earth is the C-word meant to be? That could be loads of different things.
I'm gonna hazard a guess that ****** is more offensive considering its a racial slur, although I'm not 100% of what I am comparing it to.
****. Read the entire first page. I was clearing what the word was, not calling you a ****.

What about the F word?? why isn't that brought up?

frankly i think the word '******' is just about as offensive as the word '******', mainly because of its origin. The word '******' technically means a bundle of sticks. So why would it be used to refer to homosexuals? Because back in the day they used to take homosexuals, and burn them alive. They would jokingly refer to their burning carcass as being like a bundle of faggots(sticks) on the fire.
Yeah, ****** is up there with ******, the difference being that Homosexuals don't call themselves faggots.

I don't know... isn't being offended by a word a bit childish? They are just words man, don't blow it out of proportion...
basically this.

like the OP said, it's all the intentions, i can say "BLAHBUOHHBOBOBOBOOBBBBBDASDFUSDF:LKJSDF" when really i was meaning and thinking "I am gonna break my foot off in your ass while enjoying some fresh baked cookies.", and it wouldn't matter what the fuck i said, just what i intended to do.

I hear the N word thrown around so much IRL that i just don't care, and the C word i've heard used more against males than females so i think that's also lost it's defined meaning, which isn't even that bad in the first case, if this was true then using the male version of it should be just as harsh, no?

in addition, the above clip from The Boondocks is based on an actual occurrence in my home town of Louisville, Kentucky. i'm not exactly sure if i'm face-palming in disgrace or rolling on the floor laughing about it. but i do know that i love that episoide [of The Boondocks].
exact same, first time i saw that clip i fucking cried laughing so hard, because the exact same thing happened at my school (still does, to this day) and my exact thought process isn't that the N word is being thrown around, is that how the FUCK are you gonna borrow a french fry/tater tots? are you gonna give it back? (also, you can insert pen/pencil,paper,other random foods..)

I love the boondocks. some of the episodes capture moments from my life to the very last detail.

I am perfectly comfortable both typing and saying the word "****". I am not comfortable saying the N word, or indeed any other racial slur that isn't directed at a race I'm part of. So yeah, in my personal opinion the N word is way worse.

Did not realize that Cancer was now an offensive term.

OT though, it seems when you call someone a ****, there's less reaction (though it less used where there would be wide spread reaction). I know at one point some woman got into an argument with me and I just shouted at her by the end of it "Of piss the hell off ****! Go get back on your knees and choke on some more dick so I dont have to hear you again!". While I was "punished" for the incident, that punishment was just being led out of the Toys R Us and giving a fourteen day suspension from the place (but the again, th was around the time Toy R Us started going down hill so I didnt really go back there as much). The woman got led out too and given the same ban, so at least they were fair (even though she strted it).

so I would say calling someone a ****** (even though you can call someone that and technically be in the right, or use words like niggard, niggardly, and other such words and get the same reaction) is worse, because if you call someone a ****, its more of a behavioral thing now, but its also a name for something natural thats always existed.

Also you can use the word, you're not directing it at someone. We kill language by making it so we cant say words in any context

Cracker is racist too, but it's just not as loaded as the N-word.
One nice thing about being a white guy is the racial slurs against us are so lame. Cracker? Honkey? Really? :p

I say that in jest, there are racially-motivated things happening to people of all shapes and sizes.
I had someone call me a honkey one time and i just started cracking up.

If a single word is that powerful to someone... then i feel very sorry for your lots.

I literally say N-word. This black guy cut me off in traffic and I yelled: "you frakkin N-word!!" I think that just sounds awkward and then sounds a even more offensive later on than what it would have been in the moment.

I just met a guy from Australia last week and he said **** like other word. He was drunk, but he really made it seem like people just say **** to each other all the time like its no big deal.

It's funny how many people can't even type '******'.

When you say 'n-word', you're putting '******' into peoples heads regardless...so you may well have just said '******' to start with. You're not being particularly sensitive by dancing around the word, really it's just a slimy way of saying a word that you feel you shouldn't.

Precisely...it's arbitrarily offensive.

Being offended by words is silly, especially when you only do so because it's tradition, and especially when you're disregarding context. At any rate, hiding behind the first letter of a supposedly bad word - like how people do when they say "N-word" is cowardly and only serves to give the word "******" more power that it really doesn't need.

I'd go as far as to say it's even more cowardly than a Prawn-Lion. Which is an animal I made up...and decided is cowardly.

I'm completely desensitised to both words. I blame 4chan and filthy northerners. Over a 'friendly' game of cards today at college both words were used extensively much to the hilarity of those watching. Especially when our resident black guy joined in. No one really cares too much in my group, words are just words among friends.

"Those that take offense when none was intended are fools. Those that take offense when it was intended are damned fools."

Honestly, People run there mouths all the time. If people are talking shit, its just that, shit. Are you going to give any value to "shit"? If I got upset every time I've been called cracker, I would have been in jail years ago. (my last name is Graham and I'm white, so yea, it happens quite a bit) Doesn't bother me. Why should it? Not gonna let some random asshole depict how I react to their diarrhea mouth.

It depends on context. In context, ****** is an extremely offensive racial slur. Out of context, however, it is just a word that shows you're a bit inappropriate. **** is just a normal swear word, if the 'worst'. I often greet my friends with 'What up, cunts?' and they don't care. So, yeah, the 'N-Word'.
