Star Wars all day
The Godfather parts 1 and 2 were gold, but the dissapointing part 3 (it's still good don't get me wrong) makes me consider Star Wars more of "The" Trilogy.

When someone mentions "trilogy" I think IV,V and VI
When someone mentions best 1-2 punch, I think The Godfather

clearly you have gone to a lot of work to convince yourself that there are more than 3 star wars movies. it must have cost a lot of money to bribe IMDB. however, you are mistaken on all counts. the star wars prequels only exist as a plot device for fanboys (the movie, not the subculture). they are not real movies.

If it has to be a movie trilogy then I suppose Star Wars, but they were both very good.
I would vote for 'Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy' as THE trilogy if i can include books.

Have to go with LotR. Star Wars left a cool impression on me and the movie is cool but lotr just blew me away when I watched it.
Other than that back to the future trilogy was awesome.

That, my friend, is one of the three zelda games released for the phillips Cd-i. If the nonexistant star wars prequels count as legitimate star wars movies, then you have to accept those as legitimate zelda games.

Sure I accept them, don't care about Zelda anyway. Didn't even knew there was a Zelda continuity...

The Star Wars Prequels exist. Two of them even outperformed the old Star Wars in the box office.

I never liked star wars, I always thought the writing and acting was awful. LotR has better source material, better screenplay, better cast, better director, and about equal music. So LotR wins.

The later ones, in my opinion, don't stand up to the first.

I was thinking while ago, because my friend refferd to the Lord of the Rings trilogy as "The Trilogy" which sent my other friend onto a rage shouting "There can be only one!" (obviously just watched Clerks 2). But it got me thinking, what do you concider to be "The Trilogy"

How about Aliens? The first three were amazing, Ridely Scott is an amazing director. The fourth came later, and I don't count it as much since technically it is a clone of Ripley, and though not as good as the other three, the end was really bad, Ron Pearlman kicks ass.
