I was thinking while ago, because my friend refferd to the Lord of the Rings trilogy as "The Trilogy" which sent my other friend onto a rage shouting "There is only one trilogy, and only one return, and that's not "Of The King" it's "Of The Jedi" you idiot" (obviously just watched Clerks 2). But it got me thinking, what do you concider to be "The Trilogy"

There is no "the trilogy" the star wars trilogy is just that. The star wars prequal trilogy is just that. Same with every other trilogy.

Terry Gilliam's "Trilogy of Imagination" films ("Time Bandits", "Brazil", and "The Advntures of Baron Munchausen". If you've never seen those, go see them. NOW.).

Steady now, I'm with you on Brazil and the Baron, but Time Bandits was pretty awful. :3

Reminds me of something. Don't remember if it was a game, book, or movie. The tag line was "The fourth and final [media type] of the trilogy." I really wish I could remember what it was...

I remember seeing a book series bound together with rubber bands at a used book store in coastal Alabama 13 years ago, the Vampire Diaries Trilogy. The fourth one was tagged with "The fourth book of the Vampire Diaries Trilogy."

And technically there are six "books" with each of the parts divided into two.

Isn't that what a Trilogy is though, would you say that The Matrix films where a single film and a Duology because there is a time skip.

...and before its said, yes i do realise that Star Wars is actualy 6 films but the first/latest three dont realy count as part of the original Star Wars plot, so for me the first/latest three are a competly differnt film.

Define Uninteresting Light show.

LoTRs is all visual effects first and human story second. Star Wars mixes special effects and human stories at the same time.
