If you're going to play a PS2 game go with Suikoden V. It is freaking sick. Best one of the series. Probably the best PS2 RPG as well.
Listen to this man, he has excellent taste. Although i think Suikoden 2 is slightly better

Also, about how long are the two Persona games? I wouldn't enjoy a game that requires me to grind for long periods or takes much longer than 50 hours to get to and beat the final boss, seeing as I'm trying to finish a ton of games at the moment. I got a stack of DS games screaming at me. They're telepathic.

I never really liked JRPGS, and I genuinly hate most of them, but in my long time as a gamer I have beaten Grandia II and would recomend it to you. It has a nice plottwist at the end which get's kinda sick, but this is cool.

I think Grandia 2 is going to win this one. It's the best game out of the bunch. You've already played part of the game, so you already know the feel of it. By far one of the best main characters in all jrpgs. "Your friends all died and your home blew up? So what? Get over it."

My username was going to be Geohound Ryudo, actaully.

Grandia 2 it is. By the time I'm done that, I should be able to afford the new Star Ocean. I loved Till the End of Time, so I hope its half as good.

I'd go for Blue Dragon, I've almost completed it myself, it's short-ish, and fun, although some of the characters are quite... annoying.

Hate JRPGs, but I do have some constructive stuff to say. I heard that Infinite Undiscovery was actually pretty "meh," but Blue Dragon is cool looking, and it's a JRPG that I would consider playing if I didn't have so many other games to buy. I don't know about Grandia 2, but if you were really enjoying it when you were playing it, that's what I would go for.

Do you only have a PS2 and 360?

Its had some pretty poor reviews but my friend says The Last Remnant is pretty decent. But I wouldnt trust his opinion.

That depends actually.

I'd imagine you COULD beat either Persona 3, or Persona 4 in 50 hours, especially with a walkthrough and/or various guides telling you the best way to go about things.

Generally speaking a large portion of the game is all about obtaining differant personas, fusing them, and setting up ideal combinations of resistances and attacks for differant opponents. Say for example setting up a fusion inheritance so that you wind up with an uber-powerful persona that has the major weakness of being vulnerable to a common attack, but inheriting an immunity to that attack for from a weaker persona several steps down the line so the persona no longer has any weaknesses... or a defensive persona that is pretty much immune to everything. :p

What "ultimate" personas you have to play with and how powerful your personas are depends on the "social links" you established during the game in what amounts to a school life simulator (ie who you hang out with influances your soul). You have to budget your "real" life with your dungeon exploring, while completing goals before specific dates arrive.

With a good walkthrough you can plan out how to spend your time to get the things you most need, and reach your goals for uber-power without a lot of the trial and error.

Still, people oftentimes put 100 or more hours into these.

If you have limited time I recommend skipping Persona 3 and just doing 4. The storyline stands alone pretty well, and Persona 4 is simply put vastly improved over Persona 3 in gameplay (for example being able to give all of your party members orders instead of relyig on an AI). Which has a better storyline and group of characters is debatable (I'm sort of partial to Persona 3) but in this case the latest installment is overall the best. *IF* you do both games under no circumstances start 4 first. Not because of spoilers but because after the improvements it's going to be hard to go back to 3.

It can be hard to track down, but "Chaos Wars" (A gamestop exclusive for the PS-2) is a pretty decent game. Not all it could have been, but a pre-cursor to Cross Edge (in spirit) featuring a crossover between a lot of characters from differant RPG series.
Chaos Wars is good, and the Voice actors are the best I've ever heard!

How do you feel about tactical RPGs?

You've got a PS2. I don't know about the selection for Gamefly, but if you're looking for something new you should see about the Nippon Ichi games, like Disgaea and Phantom Brave.

If you like ToV, try out Tales of Symphonia for Gamecube. It's one of the best JRPGs I've ever played... I actually think it's BETTER than Tales of Vesperia.

I find it laughably hard to believe that those are the real voice actors.

I read the you tube notes... Please tell me those aren't the real voice actors!

I play alot of JRPGs
Here are some that i feel still have some appeal and I am only focusing on the positive. (That is if you havent already played them)

Star Ocean: Till the end Of time(PS2): Fun combat, voice acting is also pretty good, switch between party members mid combat, pretty good story,(with a twist that made me go "HOLY CRAP /:0")

Dragon Quest VIII (PS2): Great story & voice acting, terrific music score, Very challenging, pokemon-esq side quest, multiple weapon classes for each character (Done very well).

Radiata Stories(PS2): Offers some challenge, prety fun combat, beat the game and in the Bonus Area you get to recruit Valkyrie Profile's Lenneth, Mid-game plot twist, recrut tons of characters for your party and fight just about any civilian by kicking them in the shins, lol.

May add more later...
