can you give me a short opinion on which you like better?
(please I'm getting rather tired haha!)
Definitely Slim HDD. I personally don't like the shiny look, but I'd rather have a bad-looking 250GB 360 than a non-fingerprint-magnet 4GB one. Plus I don't know why anyone would want memory card access now that USB sticks work the same, can have stuff transfered to them from memcards, have higher capacity, and are super cheap.
To answer the memory card thing quickly

I have a friend with an Xbox Pro and a memory unit, he has no internet so it never updates, so he can't read USB sticks (and he has no XBL... and he's lazy)
BUT! on that memory unit he has his level 47 poison knight for castle crashers

so yeah does that explain it?
he wants memory unit access to use his Green Knight in CC (the first game I'm getting btw)
You actually don't need an XBL subscription to update the 360, all he needs to do is take the Xbox somewhere that does have an internet connection (like your house), hook up the cord, start it and it should update in ~5 minutes. It doesn't need a permanent connection, it is a one time thing. From there he can take it home, transfer the save file (probably not that big) to a USB stick and transfer it that way. MS has some sort of system to transfer the game itself, though that may be more complicated. Look, if he is too lazy to do that, he is probably too lazy to go to the store to buy a new one anyway lol.

I would get the one with the best warranty TBH. The main reason I've never wanted a 360 was the notorious RROD issues.
Note, the Slim is RROD proof (as of current tests)
but it WILL kill your games if you move it
It's RROD proof on the sole basis that it lacks three red rings with which to RROD. They can and still will fail. Personally I'm just glad Microsoft honors the warranties they threw out on them. If it wasn't for that warranty I wouldn't even be considering one. That new RDR zombie DLC is awful enticing...

Plus they eat games as you said, and with 2 adult cats and three kittens in my house the chances of the console taking a dive is quite high.
okay the cat thing I understand

but by RROD proof, I mean FAAAAR better cooling, AND if you DO manage to over heat it, it will recognize the temperature and shut down for cooling

so instead of peeing itself and dieing, it goes into a 4 hour coma.

I'd put my money on; one that doesn't red ring. Which I heard the new slims are bestest for that.

But isn't that game coming to the PS3 as well?
all my friends with it have it on Xbox, and it's not cross platform sadly

yeah, he's willing to do the house thing but his dad will kill him if the 360 leaves the house

Very cool, but it is indeed less expensive to just buy the 250gb model.
By a mere $30. In my opinion, that's enough to not have a fingerprint/dust magnet that I'll have to wipe off constantly so it doesn't look like shit.
are people really so obsessed with finger print marks that they're willing to shell out an extra $30?

(note I always wear gloves... it's cold here... they're white... and I once made the mistake of wearing all blue and red shoes with them...)

I have a question. I've been thinking about moving up, and getting a Slim. I have and Elite with a 120GB HDD hard drive. If I get a Slim, will I be able to attach that onto the Slim, or will I have to do some kind of memory transfer to the new hard drive?

You can use USB storage on the 360 now, so Memory Cards are basically pointless.

Why, exactly, do you need to take off the HDD? The ones on the Slim are actually still removable, you just have to take off part of the cassis to slip them out. They're still not hard-wired in or anything.

Personally I'm looking at a 250 Slim to replace my aging and temperamental old 20gb, which hasn't been 20gb since the HDD died but that's beside the point.

slim and elite have different HDD's and I think you'd need to copy over via memory sticks

the reason to take them out is to keep save data if for some reason the console needs to be sent in for repairs

as for upgrading, do it only if you want, but from EVERYTHING I've gathered, the Slim is by FAR the greatest model yet

just don't pick up the console while the disk is in it or you'll lose that disk ;)
