What did you shoot these with? They could have used better focus. Anyway, I went with the first.
It's a very good point and shoot camera, which means an average overall one.

The focus issue you see is actually just a resolution issue that happened when I put these pics online. The originals I have on my hard drive are a lot less fuzzy.
So you used a standard digital camera? I study screen and media, where we use digital slrs at least once a week, and had a class dedicated to capturing digital images last year. We use nikon d70s, so I went out and purchased a nikon d90. If you plan to make a career or just take your enthusiasm for photography further, get exposure to dslrs as soon as you can and as often as you can.
I've been thinking of getting an SLR, but don't have the money ATM. These are definitely not SLR quality, which is rather unfortunate.

the first pic is the closest to a 1-2 ratio of ground and skytwo parts one one part the other. If your teacher gives you a bad grade show her the poll and prove her wrong.

I like the third one. From what I can see the light seem to only turn red though? Does this mean if you stop at this light you can never go again?

The first is interesting, but ultimately a little too empty for me. The third one, I'd say, is the better of the other two. Just my personal opinion, though, no photography experience here.

Last one because the light stands out from the background, which is like a flat wall since nothing is going on. The focus is the light and its off to the left to give it a more "authentic feel" as opposed to it being in the middle.

But if I had to pick on to look at for a while, I'd say the first.
Hope not..

I mean, it's a wall, some stairs, and a light or something...

I don't get it either..

None of them, really. They lack subject matter or real composition. The second and third look incredibly rushed and ugly, lacking clean framing, ending up looking like random snapshots.

At least the first one is slightly composed and a little better in terms of focal points and convergence. Still pretty ropey and empty though.

The second is awful. I can't pick any redeeming factors for it, I'm afraid.

The third COULD have been a pretty good shot, but the framing is off, the subject isn't placed too well and it's lopsided, which spoils it for me.

I dunno the fact that the brick wall has horizontal lines and then the flag poles shadow contrasts that with its (cant think of the word for sloping lines), in my opinion makes me think the 1st one is the best

The curves was just a quick contrast boost really, I find them a much more controllable way of adjusting the contrast in an image. They are quite hard to use though took me a long time before I liked them more than levels, even still I would usually only use them if I cant do want I want to in levels. (generally speaking adjusting the tones when I want to boost them without blowing the highlights)

(as for the first post, I lurk here from time to time and decided to register to reply to this post :p)

At first glance I thought the first one, but after looking for maybe half aminute I decided that the third looks better.

tl;dr: The third.

I like the first best. It is simple and there isn't a bunch of clutter in the picture. The other two have more things in them and it feels like clutter... also, I hate having fences in backgrounds of pics, especially fences like that one.

I would say the first one, the last one is good too but appears slightly out of focus. Even with a sharper image I think it's probably slightly off which edges it out as the best.
