yellow ftw!
kinda shows the age demographic of people on the site that most people started with the first gen, i.e. when it was a MASSIVE craze, when collecting the cards seemed more important than the game

I started out on Pokemon Blue, with a Squirtle. I enjoyed it as a kid, but now I don't like the series anymore. I don't mean that the games are worse, I guess I just grew out of them.

Started with Pokemon Red which interestingly enough I got for free when a kid left their Gameboy at the pizza place I was delivering for at the time. I remember for the first few weeks I could only play it at work in case the family came back to claim it. They never did though and I still have that Gameboy Color and Pokemon Red to this day.

I enjoyed it enough to go out and buy Pokemon Blue some time later on. I ended up playing them all through Sapphire/Ruby but I lost interest until recently when I picked up Pokemon White for my DS.

Started in the first generation, but gen 5 is by far the best out of them all. Haven't used a single old gen Pokemon in White. Have three level 75 teams of six of the new Pokemon, working on my fourth.

First, and I've played all of them.
Personally, 5th gen was my favorite campaign, 4th gen has the best meta-game, and 1st gen is super high up there all around because of my nostalgia goggles.

I have two copies of yellow, one of blue, one of gold, one of ruby, and one of pearl. Although I haven't played any of them in over two years.

Started with Pokemon Blue back in grade school and have played every Gen up to fourth. I completely lost interest in the series before Black/White came out, and as such have not played either.

The third generation, Ruby & Saphire.

But my favorite is 4th gen. It was just so fun. It was the only region I bothered to get 100% completion for the poke-dex.

It all began with Pokemon Red and a Charmander played on my Gameboy Color.
My favorite game was Crystal because you got the best of Gold/Silver and you got to return to Kanto.

First, and played every single one except Black/White.
Same thing here. Started off with Pokemon Red. For some reason reason Pokemon Black and White didn't appeal to me. My Friends told me I am not missing much, as this Pokemon games appears rushed and too influenced by Final Fantasy.

I started with the very first, and have played every gen so far, even the remakes.

Red -> Gold -> Ruby -> LeafGreen -> Pearl -> HeartGold -> White

I take great comfort in my ability to be the crotchety old man when Pokemon is involved.

"In my day we only had 150 Pokemon and we were just fine. Now you kids be buying the equivalent of a roster update for collectible monsters."

As you can guess, Red/Blue bitches.

Started with Pokemon Blue. My friend got it on release day, but I had to wait for the weekend because of low funds.

Ah those were the days. Actually managed to collect all 151 back in the day. Even picked up a Mew named PECROX through something my friends and I "discovered" called "3-way trading". My link cable was one of those ones that had 4 extensions, 2 for Game Boys and 2 for Game Boy pockets. One day we plugged 3 different machines in and traded. Ended up with some crazy sh*t, the craziest of which was a Lv. 5 Mew named PECROX which we proceeded to clone using the old clone trick.

Good times.
