3rd gen, my first game was pokemon Colisseum and I went into it cold too. Didn't even know it was an rpg. I thought it was okay, I mean I have black and play competitively sometimes. On a side note does anyone feel that they can identify a pokemon's generation by its art style? I remember playing emerald and seeing pokemon from first generation that they brought over like geodude and machop and thinking "why don't these quite fit?"
A bit Gen 1 pokemon look more basic to me and for some reason I always felt that gen 3 was "round"

Borrowed Pokemon Blue from a female friend of mine in 6th grade, and how have my own shelf in my room for Pokemon games. Played everyone, even the shameless retreads on newer handhelds.

I regret nothing.

I started with 1st and skipped 2nd; I got back into the franchise with a copy of FireRed I borrowed from a friend and have played each subsequent generation since then.

Maybe it's because I skipped it when it was on the Game Boy, but I played HeartGold/SoulSilver and didn't find 2nd generation all that good. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it but I fail to understand why people love it so much. I made the (apparent) mistake of trying to do too much of the quest after I beat the Elite Four the first time (instead of XP grinding them for a while), and they leveled up their Pokemon in my absence. With the lack of a Vs. Seeker and very, very few wild pokemon above level 50 to grind, I actually stopped playing with my team in the mid 50s, unable to beat the updated Elite Four and not interested enough to grind on lower level wild pokemon until I could take them.

I'd have to say my favorite gen was 3rd; not because I think it was the best (I can't pick a "best generation"), but because it had a good mix of nostalgia (with FireRed/LeafGreen) and newness, with Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald. And because all the DS games are slow as hell when it comes to moving between menus, saving and fighting.
Well from my view point Gen 2 (when it was first released) was well received because it added alot of thing that you would take for granted in the newer Gens.Such as the breeding mechanic or the ability to trade between it self and first gen. also it does have a vs. seeker but it's really annoying

Yeah, 3rd was round and its colour scheme was very bold I thought, very pastel if that makes sense. Gen 1 had a more rigid feel and the colors were sorta tropical I felt. lots of beige-ish washed out colors. pale purples and yellows, lots of contrast.

Started with Pokemon Yellow... which I guess would be considered Generation 1.5. Those were the days, level pikachu way more than my other pokemon (oops), win anyway after catching the legendary birds, and listen to Sarah Brightman.

I mean, I even beat Brock, with pikachu... it was insane.

I started way back with 1st gen, with Pokemon Blue. I've been keeping up with every gen after, though I find that 4th gen was lost on me, and a little of the 5th.

Typhlosion, Aggron, and Gardevoir/Gallade remain my favorite three.

I started with the show when I was like... 6. Still watch it. Still hate the writers for getting rid of Misty but keeping Brock.

Started on 1st Generation with Blue (and then Yellow) and have played every generation since and sunk hours into each one.

Pokemon yellow was my first and last pokemon game. I was never really that fond of pokemon and the game only cemented that feeling. After that I was pretty much a Digimon fan forever more. I guess I just like the relationship of monster and partner compared to the pokemon trainers and pets.

1st gen and proud. There is nothing quite like dusting off my old game boy cartridge of pokemon blue, which is the first game I bought with my own money, and catching them all. Still brings a tear to my eye. :)

I started with Red.
Then got Gold
Then I didn't get a Gameboy advance so I couldn't play the newer versions.
Then I got a DS and played Soul Silver
And I finished it off with White.

And despite what a lot of people say, I'm having just as much fun with Gen V as I did with Gen I.

More so, maybe, because now I can actually read English.
Back when I got Red, I never learned about Flash, managed to navigate my way through those dark caves anyway.

I started of with the 1st Gen, playing Pokemon Blue and I've played all the other gens that came after it. And do you know something, I loved every single one of them including Pokemon Black, it kicks ass.

I remember getting my copy of Blue on Christmas day along with my first Gameboy colour, it was snowing that day but rather than go outside and play I stayed in and played Pokemon.
The only difference for me was the snow and Pokemon Black. Seriously I don't think I put down that game boy for weeks. Ahh I miss my old copy of blue, wonder what ever happened to it?
