Did you enjoy Oblivion? If so than Fallout 3 is the way to go,

This, or Mass Effect. Trust me mate, don't rent Far Cry 2. You'll get fustrated quickly. The only good thing about that game, is the online map that looks exactly like Helm's Deep in Lord of the Rings. Damn, that thing was cool..

Why in the name of bleeding fuck did you count GTA IV and Saints Row 2 as RPGs??? Moving on... I recommend Fallout 3. If you are into mods and modding in general then FO3 is irreplaceable (just like Oblivion )!

Anyway, How about the newest Star Ocean? That's been pretty fun for the little while I've sunk into it. Of the list you gave, Fallout 3 is probably your best bet.

I am going to also say Mass Effect.
I loved Oblivion, but something felt lacking with Fallout 3. After waiting for what felt like years to play Fallout 3, I put it down about 12 hours in and haven't picked it up since.

Mass Effect has been my favourite RPG of this generation and you already have my second. Also, I'm curious as to your definition of what an RPG is.

If so, then I say get the game before it... Morrowind. Way better than Oblivion IMO.

If not... Mass Effect or Knights of the Old Republic (If you like Star Wars).

If you like shooters and RPG's, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is what you need. The first one is all I played though, don't know much about the second one or (more importantly) how stable it is.

Well since you have oblivion and like it I would go for Fallout 3.
Bit over-rated but it still sucks you in like oblivon does .

I on't know whether you're asking this generation RPG's (very much like FPS's) or RPG's in general. I liked oblivion but I got bored of fallout 3 (but maybe thats because I couldn't get it to work). Anyway, You'd probably like fallout 3 but if you have a CD drive and don't mind low graphics, Go For Neverwinter nights, I just found it and it's quite good.
