Versus threads are frowned upon.

If I was gonna judge though, I'd have to say they've both become equally shit. But with high points only? Final Fantasy wins with 7,8, and 10.

MGS loses with only 1 and 3.

Really depends on your taste. Though I personally prefer MGS as opposed to JRPG's in general, there are some people who can't handle the sneaky stealth gameplay.

I can't awnser that one.....
both movies have to much idea's and not enough user-friendlyness.
I prefer the Bioware games when it comes to story

But if I had to choose I would say MGS because the movie still has value even if you did not read that whole encyclopedia.
sorry for the spelling.

If we are going by the best games in their respective franchises, then Metal Gear Solid wins. Sons Of Liberty is one of the greatest games in existence, and while FFVI is really good, it just can't compare.

I'm siding with Metal Gear Solid, though I've never played any of their games FFVIII was the deal breaker for me and I haven't bothered picking up any FF title after that, except Dissidia, depending on who you ask the Final Fantasy series could of started sucking after VI or at X-2 either way I'm standing by it failed after FFVII and now is digging it's grave. Metal Gear seems to have it's bad spin offs but as far as I can tell it's a good series and isn't going to go on forever...or make a sequel to a FF that wasn't all that liked anyway *cough* XIII-2 *cough*

Anyway...Yeah MGS ftw.

Final Fantasy wins here easily, just on the virtue of the fact that Final Fantasy has had more games than the Metal Gear series has had, most of which are decent at worst. The Metal Gear series gets a lot of points though for having only excellent games in it's roster and no bad ones that I've played.

Did you play FF13? That took user-friendliness to a whole new level, and not in a good way.

I don't see how a JRPG and a stealth tactical action game can stack up against one another aside from both tending to have a decent amount of cutscenes(MGS wins that aspect).

I chose MGS given that I have at least enjoyed every single game from the series(MGS3 being one of my favorite games). Final Fantasy started dying out after VI.

Metal Gear Solid 4 felt a little like a movie.... but Final Fantasy XIII was a terrible one.

MGS has at least been more consistent with quality, something Final Fantasy hasn't.

Ah but if you look at it from a percentage point of view which is the only acceptable way to do it MGS wins. FF has 3 good games out of il be kind and say 15 but I know there was more probably like 20 or so.

MGS has 2 good games out of 9 assuming we include everything from metal gear forward including the spin offs on the psp.

So looking at it that way overall MGS comes out with a better percentage of games but FF has more because they spew so much shit out.
I don't care about percentages. MGS has recently been far worse than FF. No matter how much I disliked the small amount of FF13 I played, I hated MGS4 more. It may as well have been a dragged out movie.

These two series aren't even comparable! Metal Gear Solid is tactical espionage action, Final Fantasy is a role-playing game. What on Earth possessed you to have this debate in the first place?

My vote? Metal Gear, mostly because it's maintained a consistency in quality over the years that Final Fantasy--

Um both series are so undoubtedly different from each other they you cant compare the two.
And even on the terms of the quality of the games BOTH have had excellent games.
It just comes down to your own personal preference.

Wait, what do these have in common that begs them to be picked between?
Metal Gear solid is a stealth game, with a confusing but noteworthy story.
Final Fantasy is an rpg that has a somewhat bland story and gameplay in the more recent years.

Shall we judge it on high points?

Metal Gear Solid: MGS 1, Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater, Peace Walker. So, uhh, half the series, I guess.

Final Fantasy: IV, V, VI, VII, IX, X, XII, Tactics, Dissidia.

Uhh... tough choice. I'll go for Final Fantasy if purely on the virtue that I can constantly enjoy the series, whereas Metal Gear Solid often needs some serious game time all to itself for me to get properly immersed, whereas I can pick up and play FF.

Final Fantasy might have been better, but one too many turds in the punchbowl have ruined it to the point it'll take a miracle for them to get it back up to standard now.

sorry dude, but the thief series is the only ones who got the sneaky stealth gameplay thing right. MGS is a shooter game with stealth elements.
