Normally I don't ask these kinds of questions of my dear Escapees, however times are dire, I must know. Should I preorder Mass Effect 3, or Skyrim. I've been a long time fan of both series, however I find myself in the awkward position of only having enough left over money to preorder one of them. I LOVE the combat and story telling of the Mass Effects, but DEAR EMPEROR! Have you seen Skyrims new graphics and world? I REALLY want to finish the story of the ME's but I also wish to delve into the deep world of Skyrim and stretch my beautifully rendered Brenton legs.

A Sister of Battle rarely asks for help but... Please dear Escapees?

From the footage I have seen of both games so far, I think I can confidently say that Mass Effect 3 is going to blow Skyrim out of the fucking water. No comparison in my opinion.

I might be biased, since Mass Effect is one of my favorite series and I have never enjoyed any game ever made by Bethesda. Too boring, too big and open, not enough focused gameplay. If you like deep role playing games that you can get lost wandering around in for 300 hours, Skyrim might be for you. I do not enjoy wandering around aimlessly.

Get skyrim, after the shambles that was ME2 i wont be touching 3 until i can get in for 7 or 8 quid second hand, or borrow it off a mate like a did new vegas which likewise im glad i didnt buy, bethesda games never fail to dissapoint, new vegas doesnt count coz it was made by obsidian, but other than that
Morrowind=IGN Game of the Year
Oblivion=IGN Game of the Year
Fallout 3=IGN Game of the Year
somehow mass effect 2 was last year which i didnt understand until i saw the lineup they were choosing from.

I shall myself be preorderig skyrim, i shall not play ME3 until long into next year, if ever.
so ye...get skyrim

You know they are released 4 months apart right....?

Preorder Skyrim which comes out first, then try to find the money to preorder ME3. Problem solved.

Mass Effect 3 for sure. I still play ME2 and I sure hope that Bioware can deliver long lasting action and awesome story like that again. It's the grand finale so you'd expext that Bioware would put everything they had into it.

Once more with feeling!

I know, I just have a very slow income source and alot that needs paying. So I probably wouldn't have the money in time.

Yeah, because IGN are the greatest when it comes to rating games, and don't have any bias at all, nope not one bit. And of course we can't forget their reviews, pwoar, aren't those written so well, the way they talk about their games makes them true gods among men.

Skyrim for one reason: it's coming out first. For Mass Effect you have until March 3rd. Skyrim will be out November 11th. Pre-order Skyrim then put down money on Mass Effect either when you're picking up Skyrim or, at some point before or after. Or you could save up and preorder both.

I say Mass Effect 3. The ridiculous price tag on the Skyrim Collectors Edition ($200 for us Australians), for what was comparatively piss all extras, has made me pissed off and stubborn about paying for the game.

The Mass Effect series has done nothing but deliver, and if you pre-order it you'll probably end up getting some DLC for free. Considering the prices Bioware charges for its DLC, that's a very good thing.

Look, I can't make you buy either game. It's up to you where you spend your money. But I can spare some advice.

You've obviously played the Mass Effect series before and you know you like it. Have you played any of the other Elder Scrolls games?

I think it's a much safer bet to preorder a game in which you have a history of liking instead of being bewitched by pretty aesthetics and screenshots. If you enjoyed Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 it's more than likely you're going to really like the next one. Skyrim seems to only have your attention because you are liking the way it looks and not necessarily how it plays.

However, Skyrim comes out before Mass Effect 3 by quite a margin of months. Are you sure you have the patience to wait for a game that comes out in March when Skyrim is just around the corner?

Those are my points, do with them what you will.

Oh, and I voted for Mass Effect 3, because I think it will be worth the wait ;) Just my opinion.

Eh, if you're into the whole Bethesda thing then you'd probably be better off pre-ordering Skyrim. You know exactly what you're getting and will probably get at least 100 hours out of it.

I didn't like Oblivion much, so my personal choice would be ME3.

Mass Effect 3. To me, Skyrim just looks like a slightly upgraded version of Oblivion (And Oblivion was extremely mediocre), where Mass Effect 2 was pretty good, even if it was more action-y than the first one was.

If you really love both games equally it's an easy choice. Skyrim will last you for hundreds of hours more and will be out 4 months before ME3.

Skyrim all the way! Now this may be coming from someone who is not very interested in the ME series, but just from the gameplay footage shown, it looks like it is going to be an incredible game! Also, what GeorgW said!

Both are equally awesome titles and I will be getting both in the long run just like everyone else should.

I will play Mass Effect 3 first as I already have it pre-ordered. By the time I run through the campaign a couple times and DLC starts to arrive, Skyrim should have a good amount of DLC and a possible expansion pack waiting for me.

Skyrim will last a long time and with its future expansions, there's no need to rush out and get this title seeing that Bethesda take plenty of times before new installments. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see this franchise again until the next-gen with PS4 (Elder Scrolls 6?)

I have both pre-ordered, but I made damn sure Mass Effect 3 was paid for first (the collector's edition version at that). I don't think I've ever been so hyped for a game. Browsing this list [http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/7649262] of features for Mass Effect 3 jumped bumped the hype up even more.

If you're asking which one will be better than MASS EFFECT 3 no brainer. That being said, Skyrim will undoubtedly be quite good too, and this is a kind of ridiculous question given the discrepancy in release dates. If you are willing to wait until MARCH to buy your only new game of the year, then wait until march, sweep some extra pennies from under your couch, preorder ME3, and buy Skyrim used for $19.99 after you finish Mass Effect 3.

If you MUST get only ONE as a new game, ME3. Because Skyrim will undoubtedly be greatly improved by mods, and you'll want to avoid ME3 spoilers.

Skyrim for the earlier release date, gives you a chance to save up for ME3. Unless you work out an arrangement with a friend where one of you preorders one and vice versa. I'm probably going to borrow a housemates copy of ME3 but I'll order Skyrim for myself
