Poll: Which type of PSP should I buy?

I've been searching for hours on which type of PSP I should get. I used to have a PSP(which is name oddly named the PSP 1000) and it just got way too expensive so I had to sell it. Now that the games are cheap and the memory sticks are cheaper(I remember buying a 256mb stick for 30$ why in god's name did I ever do that?)I feel like I should jump on the cheap train and get myself what I think is a decent handheld. The only problem I come across is which freaking PSP is the best one. A used PSP 3000 on Amazon is fairly cheap even new ones aren't that bad as opposed to PSP 2000's. PSP 1000's are cheap as well. I know why they're cheap, I'd honestly like to hack into my PSP but I'd feel better not jumping on that yet due to bricking. I hear that the PSP 3000 has what's called "scanlines" I still don't know what that is, I've looked for videos depicting it and I still have no idea what I'm looking at, as well as the PSP 2000 with "screen ghosting."

Probably a lot to read but I feel a bit overwhelmed and unable to make a good decision. I just want a good working PSP, preferbly one to jailbreak but as long as it works then I'm fine.

TL;DR PSP 1000,2000,3000 and if you can please please please tell me why

The 3000 has noticeably better loading times. That I've seen. Mileage may vary.

Go with wich ever's the cheapest, they're all about the same except for a few slight changes that aren't all that big.

I have a 3000. All it did was play games, UMD movies and music. Did the 1000 not play games?

I had a 2000, before 2000 hours of button mashing during Monster Hunter finally wore out the stick and the action buttons and the right shoulder...

Im now on a 3000, and it works. For now.

Just dont get the PSPGo or the Xperia (PSP Phone). Thier libraries are compromised because most PSP games still arent available on PSN.

I have a 3000. All it did was play games, UMD movies and music. Did the 1000 not play games?

Compared to the 1000, later verions include;
-Less wieght.
-Less size.
-Better screen resolution.
-Better screen colour display.
-Better screen backlighting.
-Quicker load times.
-Longer battery life.

And im sure theres more but thats what i noticed.

I would go with the 3000 (actually...I did go with the 3000 because it's skinnier, and has a longer battery. I can vouch for that, trust me. I sometimes play for 2 hours straight and my PSP battery is on the 2nd bar)...unless you want to mod your PSP. Then the choice to go with is the 1000.

What do you mean "got too expensive"? Does it run on uranium or something?

I got it when it was originally released which at first set me back almost 400$ including two pretty terrible games that were priced at 40$ each. I didn't really see any luck with the system after that so I gave up. I'm guessing you didn't have a PSP at that time.

Well, if you think about it this way take an iTouch for example it has 4 current versions out. 2 Versions most undoubtedly cannot play certain iTouch games or apps and let's not mention how much of a pain it is to update them without them freaking out. So I'd rather not get a cheap but basically slow and old PSP just because it can play games. I'd rather have some sort of upgrade.(and note the difference in cost for the 3000 to the 1000 is 10$)

I have the 1000, but you should buy the 3000.

It's obviously the best one, it's 2000 more than mine.

I have a 1000 and my friend has a 3000. I found the 3000 to be too light, I prefer the slight weight of the 1000. Personal choice though.

So, you're asking us why?

You obviously have no real reason to ask people wich one to get if you already know why 3000 is better and it only 10$ more.

wtf? There's different models of this thing? Far as I knew I just had a regular PSP and only 3 games for it cause the rest of the PSP library is crap. Damn thing's been a paperweight since 2008 until I got Birth by Sleep a few weeks ago.

My advice just don't buy one and invest in a DS if you don't already have one. You'll get more mileage out of it I assure you.

Honestly, if you have an issue about me asking about PSPs go to another thread. You're just getting increasingly negative about this. I obviously don't really know much about these hence why I'm asking specific questions before I invest my money into something that could irritate me.

Get a 3000. I've been researching them lately. I'll either buy one in the next two weeks or wait until the NGP comes out for prices on the 3000s to really drop.

-better screen (more vibrant color, less reflective, and no ghosting)
-better load times (the 2000 and 3000 have 64mb of RAM while the 1000 had 32)
-Built in mic (..yay?)
-The buttons feel a lot tighter than the previous models

Thanks for the info but I think trying to warn him that he's not going to get his money's worth is helpful. He asked which one to buy and I advised that he not buy any of them. he's looking for purchasing advice and someone recommending he save his money by not buying it is still someone trying to be helpful.

In my experience I have gotten far more mileage out of my DS than I have my PSP and feel that my money was better spent on one handheld than the other. Saying that my opinion is invalid just because he didn't specifically ask for it is narrow minded and a little bit on the unpleasant side.

If you in fact don't think my opinion is worth anything and is highly unlikely to dissuade him from making the purchase then there should have been no reason to respond to my post. Obviously you feel some sort of threat from my opinion. Possibly because there's a nagging notion in the back of your head that there's validity to it and that it might actually dissuade him from making the purchase.

Frankly I think the OP is more than capable of making up their own mind and doesn't require your aid to defend them from people with conflicting views to that of your own.
