I realize that there are more world's to choose from, but if you had to pick from these two. I mean, it's basically if you want to go to school vs not going to school. Personally, I don't want to deal with school. I'd rather go on an adventure. Pokemon for me.

I choose neither. While they don't teach you anything useful in school, I never understood the whole animal violence thing in pokemon.

Pokemon.

To get rid of annoying kids, just send them off into the woods full of viscous monsters.

Awesome.

Neither really. But I suppose the universe of the Harry Potter books in largely the same as ours, save for the hidden societies of the witches and wizards. Nothing too different really. I could live my current life without any real hitch.

On the other hand, the Pokemon universe is just strange and terrifying. Correct me if I'm wrong but there are highly intelligent, immortal creatures (what? all they seem to do is 'faint'), that sometimes attack and kill humans. Why would you want that?!

Pokemon.

But instead of carrying round an animal to kill all the others Id bring an AK-47, a sawn-off shotgun and molotov cocktails.

TF2 taught me the solution to problems, use gun, and if that doesnt work, use more gun.

I'm a total Potterhead.
Pokemon always looked cute but I was a little too old for it when it came out.

this is a balanced question in someone's mind, but perhaps rephrasing will answer it for anyone intelligent enough to think about it for a second:

A world where a freaky snake-man kills people and only a select few get to be magical children

OR

A world where everything's pretty fine and just about EVERYONE gets a pokemon at a certain age that loves them so very much.

... yeah, the former, clearly

Pokemon to have those guys as pets. Wouldn't like harry potter world because harry would be so famous I'd never hear the end of it.

Hehe.. i actually did a lot of thinking about this (too much free time) both "settings" have lots of potential and are interesting in their own ways.. but IMHO only if you ignore everything the game/movies shows you. Why?

Because they are dumb. The way they shows things just doesnt make sense.

ex; in Harry potter i think that mages are basically walking a very, VERY thin line between statu-quo and complete chaos because they are so patheticaly ignorant of everything muggle-related (and eventually their magic wont protect them against the ever-improving muggle technology and communication systems). They are a very few millions hiding (themselves and countless magic creatures, plus magic-owned terrain) in plain sight of billions in a world wich is going foward without them.

And in pokemon, well, its an idealized game world meant for kids. So it doesnt make any sense at all. Its too clean, nice, full of holes and cliches. If "realistic" in any way, pokemon would be pretty hardcore as a setting. Its why i like thinking about it; just what happens if its "realistic". Its basically a survival game on a planetary scale, and humans arent winning if they are acting stupid or careless in any way. Oh, and your average PK is perfectly capable of killing a human on a whim, but they are sentient just as humans are (just look at the animes).. few are dumb, even if they behave like animals.

So wich would i choose? HP, if said Harry isnt anywhere near. Pkmn if its realistic.

Yea, barring some sort of guarantee that I would get to be a wizard of some renown in the HP world definitely Pokemon. I mean, if having your own devoted monster to fight anything in your way isn't cool enough, you also get to fly and teleport and ride the back of said monsters anywhere you want! Think of the travel costs you would save :)

I was going to say Harry Potter, but then I remembered that even if I had the good fortune to have wizarding blood, I'd still have to go to school, take tests, and do homework.
